Why are metal prices going up?

Demand is one reason. Increased industry in China and India is using a lot of Steel, especially, but also many other metals and natural resources. This is having an enormous effect on metals, oil, and other commodities.

Secondly, metals can be a hedge against inflation, and if people anticipate inflation, they will buy more metals and push the prices higher. If governments are overspending and increasing the money supply (as seems to be the case today), there's a lot of incentive to hold gold or other commodities instead of holding cash, just to protect your purchasing power. People also buy more metals in times of uncertainty, such as wartimes, if they are afraid of holding cash.

China is buying a lot of metal.

WAR. copper is up because of the war.
You figure out how that works. All it takes is a little thinking.

metals are often an inflation insurance for headge funds (hedge funds are institutions that invest in non traditional investments for savy and well educated investors.) So when there is posible inflation threats, people buy hard comodities that are often associated with a recesionary stage in the economic growth.

Timing is why. You must conduct Demographic studies for the last ten to twenty years, or two generations. Look at the movement of education as it relates to employment and savings. Good Luck........ Can't give more.

because of the demand on china and africa and the war. china and africa economy is growing really fast and they both are building highways and buildings left and right. that is why the demand is so high. it will keep going up for a little bit.
