Why do people pay for stock pick information?
If the stock "picks" are real or correct why would you tell anybody. The same goes for get rich quick scams - if it worked why don't THEY do it.

IBD 100 picks this week:

The basic rule of Economics says that productivity is maximized when everybody does what they are good at. Some people are good at programming some are good at cooking and some others are good at Picking stocks. The economic value is maximized when we do what we are good at and buy or trade in services we are lacking at. Since there is no one to one comparison between services money serves as common denominator.

Coming back to best stock picks, these are just good stock picks according to fundamentals, there is no guarantee that they will always give superior returns. Just like when a great chef cooks it is not always that they make great food.

So the stock pickers have a service of providing stock picks, it brings them a constant income, like any other job, sometimes it works sometimes it does not.

Having said that not all services are as advertised. There are a lot of charlatans among us trying to fool people.

Like with everything else, you don't have to pay if you can do it yourself.

you are on the right track.
if it so good why tell any one else about it.

as far as stock brokers go they are worst than used car salesmen, just better dressed.

a broker is a salesman for the firm he works for.
a lot of the time he is just trying to unload a bad stock his company owns. he hopes that you will fall for his sales pitch.

i have been the stock market for over 35 years and have never had a broker that had my best interest are heart.

i have been doing my own research and and trading online.
i have made more money doing it my way than i ever did thru a broker.

there are certain people or companies who undertake the research about the shares, their worth and the companies future. inviduals neither have that much time nor knowledge about how go do this research ( most of us ). go to valuenotes.com or such other site and u will understand what i am saying. the best example is Power Your Trade.com. ordinaly public pays for these tips to the experts like we pay our teacher in school.college to learn

Obviously you need other people to pay higher prices for a stock or your own investment would never increase in value. As for the get rich quick schemes that is a different story and they are always suspect. However some people who attain great wealth have a built in ego driven need to show off and at that point they might share how they got to where they are.

Being able to figure out if they are for real would be the hard part. One such guy is the national syndicated Bob Brinker show. He is most definitely ego driven and does seem to share a great amount of knowledge that seems to be real.

Here is my tip of the year .... CFSG a real chinese fire safety company starts to trade on NASDAQ this Monday. Pretty much unknown at this point and I would expect it to go up at least 50% in the short term. Real earnings, real profits, real products. Check the past filings @ sec.gov and do an edgar search for China Fire Safety Group.

People pay for stock picks because they want to save themselves the necessary work. Others sell such info to make a living. Usually they also buy the shares, recommend them strongly to increase their price and then sell them at a good profit.

There is no evidence to suggest share tipsters do any better than blind chance, but they are good talkers and there are many people who are taken in. In the stock market, in the long term, you can make 7%-9% profit. To make more than that depends on luck.

If you like a particular stock you want to tell other people. Why? Because if you own it, you want the price to go up. The price of a stock goes up when more demand is created for it. You should never pay for stock tips though. That's always a bad idea.

There are ethical brokers out there! I've seen the worst come from your Merril Lynch's and Smith Barneys of the world. If you are looking for a good broker who does have your best interest at heart, who does not work on commission you should choose Schwab (Charles Schwab). They have been in business for MANY years and started their business by wanting to help the smaller investor. They do have stock picking tools but there aren't analysts behind the picks. It's a purely quantitative approach.. A computer generated model that looks at many different criteria that rates stocks A through F.. A's and B's are your buys and your D's and F's are your sells. A great way to develop a buy and sell strategy if you tend to get emotional about anything you hold. Aside from the stock picks though, you need to make sure your asset allocation is in line with your risk tolerance. There are several ways to determine your risk level.. Generally your more aggressive investor will have 95% allocated to stocks but split up among your large company, small company and International. As you move along the risk scale you'll see that 95% decrease while a small percentage of fixed income is introduced to the portfolio. Asset allocation should be your #1 concern.. Next should be finding companys/mutual funds that fit into your plan.

I love Schwab and I love my broker.. My interests are always addressed and when I need help and advice I can get it.. When I just need guidance, that's there too. They don't work on commission and are salaried. My broker gets a quarterly bonus but that is based on retention, client satisfaction and asset consolidation. They are truely wonderful and are very interested in helping even the small investor learn and get started.

Individuals pay for stock picking service because they think someone has some insider information, can predict the future, are too lazy to do their own research or learn technical analysis. The probability of picking a winners is not very high. Plus if you are using your own money, you have the risk of loosing some or all of it. A paid for stock picking service has removed the risk of using their your own money and have a steady income from clients paying for the picks. You better understand and use a service that has a verifiable non-subjective bases. I use yahoo group ComputerProgramPicks. Best of luck to you. Luck is executing with a prepared mind.
