good looking | Why do people say its impossible to get a 100 percent return a year in stocks?? |
i dont undserstand this it makes no sense. people say your lucky to make 10 percent return? wtff... my freekin stocks just went up 50 perecnt in the last 3 months.. what are these people talking about.. isnt that how people become rich? investing their money in the stock market? and over a period of 7 years? i dont understand these people saying you only make 10 percent... how did warren buffet make all his money in the stock market?? |

It's the law of large numbers. The smaller the amount you start with, the easier it is to achieve a high rate of return. You can invest 10k in one stock and it might double. However, If you have a billion dollars, buying one stock is probably not an option. And turning this investment into 2 billion over a year period is probably not feasible. |

Piece of cake. FSLR up 1000% in one year. Or look at POT. Jump on the wagon as it passes through but put in a stop loss at your entry point and try again. Very simple formula. Each error would cost you only the commision. |

Well the problem is that although some stocks may jump and others will plummet over the course of a year they will usually change very little. one day a stock might jump 10 dollars but over the course of the rest of the year it will have lost most of that 10 dollars. another thing, stocks have to have a 100% improvement in order for you to et a 100 percent return. it is very hard to find a stock that will have a 100% increase (or decrease if selling short) throughout a year. |

Not impossible over the short term - but you won't be able to sustain that kind of return. |

Because it's impossible to get a 100 percent return a year in stocks...consistently. They only way to do that is once (perhaps twice) and by using 'pure dumb luck'....Think about it, if it WERE possible, lots of people would do it, and inflation would run at an annual average of 25% (one quarter of your return)....
Learn some basic economics, silly goose! And read a few FACTS about how Warren Buffett (TWO "t's") actually makes his returns... |

Yes, you can get lucky. Someone even wrote a book called "Happiness is a Stock that Doubles in a Year".
What they mean is that it is hard work to keep up with things and to be right year after year is amazing, as well as difficult.
Note: 50% is not 100% They have 9 months to up another 50%.
Note: Buying at the right time is hard, selling at the right time is harder. A major mistake is getting greedy and hanging on to winners too long and riding them all the way down. You can't brag about your trading skill until you've sold out.
Note: Warren Buffet didn't get rich in the stock market. He has made some highly publicised investments, true. But he has been running a very profitable business with, the last time I looked, 30 operating divisions. |

because they do not know what it takes to get those kind of crazy returns..... with crazy returns tends to come crazy risk. most people are not willing to take huge risks with their money. ;) |
