I presume you mean the American Financial Markets (the New York Stock Exchange and NASDAQ/AMEX). They are both closed today in observance of President's Day, which in the United States commemorates the birthdays of two of our more well-known presidents, George Washington and Abraham Lincoln. |

Today is a federal holiday commonly called President's Day but officially George Washington's birthday. Many states used to observe Feb 12th as Abraham Lincoln's birthday and Feb 22 as George Washington's birthday. but Congress passed a law that made the third Monday in February as the day that George Washington's birthday would be observed. |
