Why is the Dow Jones Industrial Average 220 points down?
"An increase in the amount of currency in circulation, resulting in a relatively sharp and sudden fall in its value and rise in prices: it may be caused by an increase in the volume of paper money issued or of gold mined, or a relative increase in expenditures as when the supply of goods fails to meet the demand. Money increases in circulation; this lowers its value, which raises prices. Also brought on by supply of goods failing to meet the demand of the consumer." The Consumer Price Index; An inflationary indicator that measures the change in the cost of a fixed basket of products and services, including housing, electricity, food, and transportation, has increased therefore it has caused investors to change their investing strategies.
