Why is the man who invests all your money called a broker?

Middle English, from Anglo-Norman 'brocour'

he helps you go broke

jimbobbighouse
because he helps broker the deal between two counter-parties. NOT the corporation.

The broker finds one person willing to buy and one person willing to sell at a specified prices.

obviously today the broker finds you who are willing to buy / sell, and sends that order to the market where it finds the counterparty.

because he'll make you BROKE'ER

because he's the person that "brokers" the deal between you and the corporate entity.

A broker is a person who acts as a middlemen between the seller and buyer.

many times it so happens that we have a financial asset whcih we want to sell off to get cash but we need the buyer. the person who acts as the middleman arranges for the buyers information and supplies it to the seller. a broker can also become a party to the contract by acting as a buyer or seller. then the broker becomes a principal party in the contract.

"business deal" is the notion shared by the Spanish and Anglo-Norman words because "brocour" referred to the middleman in transactions. so you can see that the word has roots dating back.

because he is 'broke' that's why he needs your money to make investment
