It is the start of a recession. Due to gas prices. Everything is going up in prices, and the consumer is having to pay more to live. Therefore no one is investing. Our society revolves around gas.

First there's the business cycle. Although the economy generally grows, it can't grow forever. Attempts to stop the business cycle have all failed. Modify it? Yes. Stop it? No. Ways to ease recessions and make them shorter: Lower taxes, eased regulations, tort reform to protect businesses from frivolous lawsuits, cheaper energy (open up ANWR and of shore drilling), less government intervention into our lives and businesses.

Associated with the business cycle is the stock market. It generally follows the fate of the economy but also reflects investor sentiment. Right now the economy seems to be cooling coupled with investor sentiment which appears to be even lower than the economy. So the stock market has sunk.

Because it finally dawned on investors that things are REALLY bad, not merely bad. And they're selling.

Fear. That and greed drive stock markets.

George Bush is spending a Trillion Dollars a year in Iraq. Gas Prices are ridiculous. People are downloading every digital product for free and buying every physical product online for hundreds less than what they would at a retail store, driving stores out of business. Any other questions??

And those stupid republicans really think that someone wants to follow are proceedures on how to run a country. So much so that they are willing to try to bully everyone into doing things "our way"!

I feel sorry for our next president because they are going to have one hell of a mess to clean up! Good Luck first woman or black president!
