Will Goldman sachs stock prices recover or should I bail out and recoup with tech stocks?
I am 50% invested in Goldman Sachs, 25% in Apple and 25% in Schlumberger. AAPL & SLB are doing good but GS is in the dumpster . Anybody got a crystal ball??

Mortgage paper has got Wall Street scared right good. And perhaps for good reason. All the financials are suffering the effect currently. There is a good chance that this is not going to be over for some time. Not until the Fed decides to bring interest rates back to 0, which I might add started the whole mess to begin with. The whole thing was a creation of Greenspan. Congress is aiming at the mortgage companies when they should be aiming at their hirlings.

Now gs is a good company and it is trading cheap but it can get cheaper still. In fact your tech stocks can also, especially if the mortgage mess starts to affect the non-financials. You might wish to ask yourself this question. Would I rather be in a stock like gs or a stock like aapl when the market decides to shed 25% of its value?

Firstly, you need more diversification You should have at least 5-8 stocks. It depends on where you got into GS (I know Cramer says it's where are they going, not where they've been). GS will be back, but who knows when. I can't get into a long discourse here on this question, but I can point you to some resources I use. These are all websites, most have free sections:
smartmoney.com
thestreet.com
cnbc.com
schwab.com
msn.com (great screening tools)
vectorvest.com
earningswhispers.com
marketwatch.com
schaeffersresearch.com
stockta.com
stockpickr.com
http://finance.yahoo.com/

Good luck!

The worst you could say about GS right now is that you can pick up some at a discount. This stock will be fine. Look at it over the years, not months. GS is not in the dumpster.

On any stock just set your trade trigger for 6% below where you bought it and don't even think about it.

If you can remember when an Arab billionaire bought a huge chunk of Apple about 10 years ago [when nobody would touch Apple] then, you would not worry about a drop in share price at G.S., they will recover. You should be in for the long term if you have 50% of your portfolio with them.

Consider Cameco. It is a uranium company that has had some bad luck in the past month, the stock dropped from $60 to $50 in just a couple weeks. With uranium in high demand and a new mine at Cigar Lake (the biggest in the world) ready to open in a couple years it might just be a good long-term stock. http://www.cameco.com/
