Will Yahoo ever make a bid to buy out Microsoft?
Or will Yahoo be brave enough to write the new file system for a new operating system

anything is possible.

Yahoo does not have the financial resources to buy out Microsoft.

Never going to happen. Ever. Microsoft has way too many financial resources, not to mention one or two things that keep them a top of everything computer related...See operating systems and more....

Yahoo will never make a bid to buy Microsoft. Yahoo is a struggling $41 billion company, while Microsoft is a strong, $266 billion company. You will never see any company buy another that is 6.5 times larger than itself, it is not possible to get financing for such a deal. Just a thought, I hope it helps.

Best of luck!

No...no...no..That's impossible. Again, introducing a new O/S at this stage is not possible either.

BUT that's not the issue ... my question is like this :-
May the consumers ( read: Yahoo Answer Community) be well protected even Microsoft or any Co. take over our b-e-l-o-v-e-d Yahoo ...??

Rabbit
This nuts, not bravery.

Microsoft has some $40 billion in "current assets"--as in convertable to immediate cash ($6 billion in cash by the way).

Yahoo has about $3 billion in "current assets" ($1.5 billion in cash). Yahoo's current market capitalization, which includes the substantially higher market price, is only some $39 billion, which, again, was much lower a couple of weeks ago. So even with the higher market price, Microsoft could pay cash for Yahoo, while Yahoo simply doesn't have the kind of capital to make even a highly leveraged bid for Microsoft. Maybe if money were freer and Yahoo had been crazy enough to have tried before the credit-crash banking meltdown the idea might have floated for a moment in a few imaginations, but not now. Sorry, not won't work, just couldn't possibly work.

No to both points. Yahoo can not afford MSFT. Yahoo is in the internet business not writing new OS. Besides MSFT is so dominate it would be really hard to gain even a small portion of the market.

With a new OS means new software, which means people would have to buy new programs.

As big as IBM is they had no success with their OS/2. This was a long time before MSFT owned the world. *it was a great OS but no one wrote software for it*

I appreciate your wild and wishful dream.

Why YAHOO alone, if any one is comfortable and affordable, everyone wish to buy not only MICROSOFT, even the entire world.

why can't you try?

best of luck
