Will gold rise over the next six months?

Gold is not at record highs. Gold has pulled back considerably and offers a tremendous buying opportunity in my opinion. The factors that led to the rise in gold such as a weak US Dollar and inflation fears are still in effect.

These are some great sites to learn about investing in the gold market and for following the daily developments in the sector.

six months is short term. if you want to invest in gold look at the new gold coins being produced by the mint. hold them until gold increases to a satisfactory level for you. gold coins have ALWAYS done well for me. good luck.

Pierrot
6 month is gambling horizon. further more the market is skewed by the activities of the central banks of the world. On the long term though (when is the whole question), the dollar WILL weaken significantly b/c of the inbalances in the US economy. the question then becomes, what do the central banks of the world do? increase their reserves (or at least not dump their gold) increasing alterntive reserves to the dollar? replace the dollar with another currency? What about the indians (big consumers of gold)? what about Russia (could increase production)? bottom line is: their are just way too many unknowns in this market. One good rule of the thumb though: when everybody is in "deflation" craze scenario and claim inflation is dead, then most likely it is time to buy some gold related assets. by the same token when everybody is screaming about inflation, it's probably time to jump off the boat.
My GUESS, for the next 6 months: deflation/recession scenario takes hold and burnt funds lead to more protracted downside on gold. IF that happens, it could be a good idea to buy some in face of the longer term problems,ie deficits. BUT THAT IS JUST A GUESS. Yours is just as good as mine.

DONT NO

k-dizzle
no gold hasn't rose in how long

Pancakes
It's at record highs right now. If it does, it won't be more than a few dollars. My opinion is gold is not that good of an investment right now.

Flush
The mania has faded. If it rises, it won't be by much.

Gold has a terrible track record as an investment. In the past 100 years (and this includes 2 world wars and multiple depressions), any other form of investment (stocks, bonds, real estate) has done better than gold.

I think its already topped out. It'll go down from here. Never buy when its hot.
