Momof2 | Will the economy ever recover? |
Ok, so will the economy ever recover? The news is all "doom and gloom." When will it ever start to pick up? |

As it used to be? Great paying jobs and free (cheap) credit and money?
No. Those days are gone.
Will things get better? Maybe, if we the people figure out how to survive.
But just like during the Great Depression, government interference will only make this longer and harder.
It is going to be a long time before times are easy again, if ever.
I know the "experts" & politicians disagree. Keep in mind these are the same "experts" & politicians that laid the ground work creating this mess.
As I have faith my fellow Americans are unwilling, and not capable, to help fix this mess, we are in for a long, slow descent into third world status.
Good luck to us all. |

Certainly! The world economy will always recover.
1. The age of depression - in late 1920s and all through 1930s, we recovered.
2. Asian Financial Crisis - started with the devaluation of the Thai Baht, Asia recovered.
3. The bursting of the Tech Bubble - in the 1990s, we recovered.
The current one may be a lot more problematic as:
1. The banks are no longer lending to one another as they fear the other party might collapse.
2. Banks are only lending on a very short term basis - 1 week or more.
3. The banking issues have spread to many parts of the world. Most banks are affected, i reckon the Islamic ones are the most prudent.
4. From Wall Street to Main street - the common folks are experiencing it. Tightening their belts on consumptions or spending that can be delayed.
5. Information age - with the proliferation of the internet, we are able to receive bad news as they are delivered. This drives down the consumer sentiments.
However, we will recover because:
1. The world is getting smaller, communication allows us to reach one government to the next quite fast, hence solving any potential conflicts.
2. Government around the world is working together to combat this problem. A few heads are better than 1, but too many chefs will spoilt the soup. So a head should emerge as the leader of the crisis - Obama perhaps?
3. MONEY - the world has lots of reserves. From the Middle Eastern nations to China and Asia, we have more than enough funds to manage the crisis.
4. Cycle - this year may be bad, but it will not last forever. We should clear by 2011, with USA and China taking the lead.
I have full faith with President Barack Obama and his team to lead us out of this dark room.
Thank you. |

It will, but it will be a slow process. We don't need to get back to the same old spending and borrowing habits we use to have. We need to save and credit shouldn't be handed out like candy. We spent and borrowed our way into this recession and may have pulled the rest of the world down with us.. |

I hope it does soon, I am about to move back in with my parents because I can't afford anything. I got a raise for a week and then they cut my pay by 10%, what a slap in the face that was. I can't take anymore bad news and these days thats all I seen to get. |

The more they talk about it, the more it seems to make it worse, doesn't it? Well, many more black headlines are to come - mostly driven by local (city and state) gov'ts cutting jobs, schools, and the downward spiral still of the banking system and insurers. So, in 6 months to several years, thinking is things should pick up... |

Of course !
This is a cycle only, we are in the low part of the cycle.
It may take 2 - 3 years to recover, but it will, don't worry.
Remember 1972, 1982, 1987 and 1995. |

The business cycle is expansion, peak, decline & trough. Right now we are in a trough. The economy does this every few years. The upside of all this is right now the stock market is having a huge sale, like the day after Thanksgiving, then we will have another expansion. |
