Will the stock market shut down?
FOR THE PAST TWO WEEKS THE STOCK MARKET FALLING, WILL IT SUSTAIN OR NOT

Its true that the market is falling.
I can also say that the prices of food r rising so r v going to stop eating?

same way....
Stock market is the life line of some business organisations these days, so the stock market is not going to shut down but v r facing problem and soon with next quarter u will see the improvement for sure.

Ramchand A
Trading may be suspended if the index drops by 15% or during the first hour of trading or so. But stock market will never be shutdown for these reasons. Corrections do come and go. This time may be used by prudent investors to invest in good scrips. Some of the sectors like Realty and Banking may be hit badly, so the investors may observe and invest.

No... never

Market may slide heavily... but will never close... when ppl invest they see both 52 week high and low levels. One may look at low and other may look at high. There are ppl with pesimistic approach, but there are ppl with positive approach too.

Afterall, stock market is a grid game... as far as ppl have grid and brain to play the game, stock market is here for us.

Knochen Hussein Schinken
The market tends to fluxuate, to coin a phrase. I would be more worried if prices didn't change. There is a buying opportunity rapidly approaching. Lots of tech companies are doing well in spite of the economic slowdown.

polojawahar195
market will go down when crude price increases.go up only when crude prices down

vikesfan.rm

rakshaagro

For years we've been hearing about gloom and doom from the Liberals and the uneducate, but it has never happened.

The market has and will continue, inspite of the Liberals, the unknowing or the uneducated.

in this global village scenario it is not possible to shut down the stock market. stock market is one of the parameter of economy. it is obviously true that stock market is not for trading or speculation. it is for investment. if loose money in that manner, it is your headache. ups downs of stock market or any market is part of a economic cycle. so don't worry stock market will be there. whether we are in or not.

Markets are about to fall like this until some sort of stability is seen in the crude prices and inflation now. By the time this happens, values would have emerged in most of the stocks, and people would come forward to invest again in the indian market.

Ha!

No.

(You are asking a silly question. If you don't understand why your question is ridiculous, you need to spend some more time studying the history of the securities markets around the world)

I don't know which stock market you mean -- I presume you mean one of the bourses in India -- but I don't believe the stock markets on Wall Street have anything to worry about, because they know the Federal Reserve will come in and bail out any major financial institution that is too deep in debt, just like it bailed out Bear Stearns.

►The decision to help rescue Bear wasn't a simple one. By brokering the Bear Stearns rescue and making emergency loans available to investment banks such as Lehman Brothers (LEH, Fortune 500) and Goldman Sachs (GS, Fortune 500), ♦the Fed has put itself in the uncomfortable position of lending money to entities it doesn't regulate.♦ That disconnect will be resolved only through political reform that may take years to negotiate.

That's not the only uncomfortable aspect of the rescue for some observers. ...[F]ederal action on behalf of Bear Stearns investors could clear a path toward a broader and more costly bailout of banks and individual borrowers.

[P]olls show most voters reject mortgage-relief efforts, because the great majority of them are current on their payments. But the Fed's decision to provide taxpayer support for the hasty takeover of an investment bank whose top officers make millions of dollars annually reframes the question, Reinhart says, in a way that ♦makes federal aid more palatable. ♦

...Even back in March, in the weeks after the sudden flight of Bear's customer base left the firm on the brink of a bankruptcy filing, some officials were warning that Fed involvement would have far-reaching consequences.
