McDonald's actually has options on its menu, such as salads and chicken sandwiches that seem healthy. If you a looking for very high returns, these companies are too mature to provide that. However if you want to invest in a company that dominates its industry, then they would be good choices. If you like the company and think the stock price is reasonable, buy the stock. |

if everyone were "going healthy nowadays," do you really think that the percentage of obese people would be at a record high...and still getting higher? just because SOME people take responsibilty for their own health/fitness/wellness doesn't mean that they're in the majority, sadly enough. |

Because they have good track records, and by that I mean their stocks almost always pay dividends and hold their value well. Don't underestimate the ability of firms like these to change their products (or at least their marketing) with the times, and to pitch "healthy" foods (whether they are really healthy or not doesn't matter, so long as they sell). Besides, the trend is for people to eat out more and more often instead of making their own meals. |

Look at the new marketing ideas the both of them are trying. McDonald's has new salads and Coke has multiple low or no calorie drinks out. McDonald's is pushing fresh fruits, yogurts, and are willing to do what the market demands to stay in business. Coke is also big in the energy drink, sports drink, and bottled water markets. So until you see the line at McDonald's shrinking or new Coke machines stop appearing, I wouldn't worry about losing money in either one. |

Absolutely, but I would imagine that some time in the future their stock must drop. They adjust themselves very well to give the illusion that they're satisfying their consumers' needs. |
