Yes, No and Maybe.

Yes.
If you are looking 10-15 years into the future, I would be Dollar Cost Averaging in the S&P 500 Index using a Roth IRA.

No.
If your time frame to get the cash back is especially under 5 years, I would not be in stocks, unless you are a professional full time trader.

Maybe.
The market is likely to go lower, but how low is the 64 million dollar question. We will also have upswings in the market.

Some no load funds can have $1000 min, or less if you have an automatic investment plan which is good because this will help you dollar cost average.

Stocks are never "high" or "low" --- The price you see on the stock exchange is the value of that stock right now. Any perception of high or low is based on guesswork of what a stock might be worth in the future.

Yes, but I don't think that anyone really knows which stocks. In the depression, people went to the movies and drank. I am seriously looking at liquor and movie company stock.

I think it is but then again I thought it was a month ago and two months ago so apparently I am not too good a forecaster of when it is a good time to buy. Nevertheless I am buying.

How much? There are several no load mutual funds where the initial purchase is $2000 to $2500. Royce Funds are all available with a $2000 purchase. Some of their fund have an excellent long term record.

T Rowe Price has a $2500 minimum purchase. They also have a monthly purchase plan where you can begin with $50.00. Not bad at all. They have some very good funds.

If you wish to buy exchange traded stocks, you can open an account with Scottrade.com for $500. I would not consider purchasing fewer than perhaps 10 shares because of the broker commission which runs 7.00 per trade there.

It could be a good time to buy, but it's best not to try to pick the bottom. Your best bet is to follow the trend. The trend right now is down so it's quite a gamble. I would recommend waiting until the economy shows signs of recovery and the stock markets start trending up. Good luck.

I don't think gambling is a good idea. I would go with safer investments,
the money to be made may be less but, you will not lose what you already have.

I've sat and watched my portfolio take a beating. I wish I had stop losses in place. Why even deal with the market turbulence now? Wait it out, till we get more of a direction. Elections, oil dumping and market still going down? Recession, depression talk? The good news isn't out there and I highly doubt we hit a bottom. See if we hit 8k and bounce off that for an indication of the dow.,
