What does the color of the President have to do with the stock market?!?!? |

Statistically the market actually does better when Democrats are presidents over Republicans, but actually the market performs about the same regardless of the party in power.
Other economic concerns are far more important than the party or color of the president. Currently we live in very tough times.
And the particular stocks that might do well could differ depending on who wins the election. Don't invest in healthcare stocks if Obama wins, since government intrusion and regulation in that industry will make it hard for companies to do well.
IMO, the bear market has yet to run and stocks might not be a buy until 2010. My opinion has nothing to do with who wins the election. The first year of a new president's term are usually not good for the stock market, and considering the tough times we face, I predict that this next four year term will be no different. |

Race is immaterial with respect to the Presidency. Policy is key. Stock markets are defined by a capitalist system. Without capitalism, the markets are useless. So, if the president dilutes the capitalist system, then the markets will generally tank. In the current election, Obama has been quite eloquent in his outline of how he will dilute the capitalist system. You can be fairly certain that the markets, in general, will tank under his presidency. In fact, there is evidence that some of the recent volatility in the market is due to people restructuring their portfolio in order to prepare for an Obama presidency.
Note however, that "in general" does not mean that all stocks will tank. For example, GE is at a multi-year low right now but its MSNBC division has been blatantly pro-Obama throughout the election. You can be fairly certain that an Obama presidency will reward that. Buying GE would be a good move if Obama wins. |

Skin color has nothing to do with anything. Watch for what policies come out, and then adapt accordingly. In truth, we are in for hard times no matter who wins, and the repubs came up with their losing team because they do not want to be blamed for the next four years of misery. But there will be winners and losers in stocks either way. Wait and see where President Obama leads, if may not be where candidate Obama says. Reagan was the last one that was not a liar. |

As opposed to how 'swimmingly well' the market as been performing under a white president?? Two brutal bear market in less than 10 yrs. I find your question ironic, and more than a little amusing. |
