depends on your time frame.if you are in for the short term then you need to look for single stocks that show a bullish pattern. We are in a bear market so many socks will be bearish, also. I would learn about how to read a chart. You can check out sites like stockcharts.com. There are many different kinds of charts. I like candlestick charts because they identify different formations that signal up or down trends. Some of the names of these formations are cool, some weird. use a discount broker so charges are minimal. Also, I would put in a "stop" (this is a price that you would be willing to sell at if the stock began to go down below what you spent). Again, this strategy comes with experience in chart reading and limiting your risk. good luck!

If you are a first timer I would advise against getting in. Unless you know for certain what you are doing and you can stomach a loss don't do it. First timers typically are controlled by their emotions. And you evidently are seeking short term gains as well; that's a recipe for financial calamity. Please seek competent advise before you start your investment plan.

I think there will be a big stock markets crash world wide within a few months or so. Stock markets are almost all scams world wide. You should learn the stock market basics before you enter the gate to hell.

I personally know peoples in Hong Kong have lost ranging from HK 10k to 10 millions in the past 3 years. Hong Kong Monetary Authority (HKMA) has pegged HK $ 7.6-7.8 to US $ 1 for many years. HKMA has made billions each year by buying US dollars at low and sell it at high. Can you figure out how come it's so easy to make billions dollars each year by HKMA? Stock market and Financial market is the biggest wagering in money in gambling in this world. The investors are gambling on the share prices. It is unreal and scams in stock market trading. How come it attracts so many investors even many have gambled their lives? It is simply because of greed, selfishness, fear, loss, and become hopeless in life. You should think about to pursue higher education instead of gambling in stock market.
I sincerely hope that you can figure out how risky is to invest in stock markets in terms of its actual stock market value VS the nominal value, risky factors in derivatives, water mark and performance charges by fund managers. It is not worth to invest in the stock markets. I think the next US president should try to destroy the stock markets directly and indirectly but wisely. Upon the completion of this difficult task, then to destroy the housing industry. You all Americans can fulfill your American dream with a new start over by sharing the wealth more evenly. Are you willing to pay the two AIG top executives 440k US dollars for a holiday retreat for one week? THink about it, my friend.

yes and no. yes because most stocks are so low that the only way is up afterward but no because they could declare bankrupcy. all stocks have risks. its up to you. if you want to take a risk with big awards then i would invest in companies that deal with money like finance, insurance, loans, etc. if you want small risk with small awards then invest you big companies like microsoft, yahoo, google, etc

Every time you have spare money and wish to enter the stock market is GOOD TIME. Especially now, yes it is definitely a very good time to buy strong scrips. Down side at these levels are not too steep, I feel.

Buy around 50% of your intended purchases at these levels. Wait for one more downturn, invest the remaining 50% at those levels. Then after simply wait and watch the prices. Do nothing for atleast a couple of years. The market should turn for better and you will stand to gain nice money.

Invest in top class, strong scrips ( LT / Reliance / BHEL etc.). Reliance Petroleum should be a very good story over a period of 5 years. TTML should also be showing nice appreciation in about 3 years. Ofcourse am not giving you tips but just mentioning few scrips which are investment grade. Do your own analysis and then invest.

Best luck.

it might be, but before doing anything you need to learn how to protect yourself... read up on options and the "collar" trade so you can carve your risk into small pieces.

any time is a good time to enter or to exit the market because in active and liquid markets the market price reflects the best unbiased estimate of value. market timing does not work. it never has and it never will.
