No my grandfather did because he thought he was doing his part but in the long run he would have made more and helped the economy because it would have had more value. Govt is cracking down on profits made in other country's and banks so be careful with that. |

Gold is always valuable. |

What possible reason would you have for withholding it? The government never confiscated ANYTHING when the private holding of gold was banned. The gold was redeemed for cash by the government.

NO way screw the gov. |

what?

can't happen again.
FDR confiscated gold COINS as part of taking america off of the gold standard.
since we're already off the gold standard, it can't happen again. |

As to your question,
No, I would keep it, it is mine! I'd bury it in the yard if I thought they were going to take it.
Maybe an underground market or black market for it but it's value is only what someone is willing to pay.
They may or may not, depends on the situtation. |

If I thought it would help the country, I would probably turn it in. As far as I know, the govt did not confiscate the gold, but citizens turned it in. The govt doesn't have lists of citizens who have gold, so I don't know how they would confiscate it. Leave it in your safety deposit box, or in your home & what is the government going to do about it???
Sure there will be a market for your gold. And sure you could profit by sending it out of the country. Tho I am somewhat amused by your trying to make a buck when the government is confiscating gold.
If they are doing this, the country is in desperate straits, and making few bucks on selling gold will be the least of your worries. |

I wouldnt. Besides how would they know I even have the stuff. I could easily hide it somewhere or simply say it was lost or stolen. It would be a very futile and dumb effort trying to do that stuff.
If anyhtng they would target the wealthy and rich for such things,,,,I guess thats one of the good things about being poor. |

I don't think I would turn it in....I'd probably put it in a very safe place until I could get it out again. |
