The Wall Street scuttlebutt is that it primarily depends upon (1) the continued sales & profitability of GM cars and (2) the eagerness of the US Government to sell its rather large ownership of the company.
If GM continues to sell & generate profits for another quarter and GM can get the go ahead to sell 10% of the company to the public for at least $50 per share, it will probably happen between Fall 2010 and Spring 2011. If not, all bets are off the table.
