Hi Stevie , as a matter of urgency get your friend to contact local Citizens Advice Office , who can offer him terrific help re getting finances into order , and contacting those companies he owes to. This service is free , and should free him from the pressure ! Cannot say with 100% certaintity , but I don't think the Bailiffs can take anything which does not belong to him ! For example , if you owned the computer and had only "loaned" it to your friend , which naturally you can prove , (tee-hee), I think "your Computer" would be safe . However , first thing monday morning get into Citizens Advice for help. Good luck to your friend , and hope this helps , DJC. |

Not sure about this but can't he simply remove the computer and place it with someone else until they leave....? If he needs it for work could he work from someone else's home in the meanwhile leaving the comoputer at that house? |

i would tel him 2 take computer out of house when they visit because i have ad a friend in same situation & they wil take anything of value to pay the debt off. |

Oh dear thats awful, Im not entirely sure but think that the baliffs can lift anything...get your friend to phone up the debt company to come to some sort of arrangement (even if its a small amount its seen as trying to contribute something), which they cannot refuse its the LAW, before they lift the lot and sell it for pennies HONESTLY!

Hiding away will not solve anything. The Bailiffs can be stopped if they are informed of the financial situation and can usually come to an alternative arrangement for payments to be made. |

You do not say what the debt is for. Lawyers have recently found a number of fundamental flaws, errors and ommissions in contracts relating to mortgages, secured loans and car finance loans over £10,000, and credit cards.
I f your friend has any of these loans then s/he may be entltled to compensaton and or restitution. Contact me for more details.
Bailiffs can not take items that you use for your business. Moneysavingexpert.com is also a good site to look at. |

They are only allowed to enter your property if you have let them in before to itemise your belongings. If they have not been in home before they are not allowed to take anything, id advise your friend to go to the citizens advice and see what they say. |

If your friend can prove he needs his computer for work they will not take it same with a car my sister in law has just been made bankrupt and they left her with the car and computer as she used them wile working from, home she used the car to visit customers so they could not take it. they will only take items classed as luxury like TV hi fi DVD player etc
And if the bailiff has been and done a walk round repossession and they come back to collect the stuff and he has hidden it he will get into a lot more trouble |
