Stealthbong | A question for UK residents......how easy is it to make ends meet on your salary? |
What is your greatest fear/worry/concern, financially speaking? |
|

Nick
 |
I am lucky enough to be able to get by - but I don't do much more than that, so my worry is that I'll NEVER be able to get a deposit to buy a house!
There's a vicious circle, people who own property are making plenty and releasing equity, pushing house-prices up more when they extend their empire! Then unfortunate people not on the ladder get their rents put up, but can't do anything about it as they can't buy so the property market looks more attractive to the wealthy and it continues to spiral. Am not sure where this will end?
I'm fortunate and have a comfortable middle-management job, so how those less fortunate must feel is an even greater worry!
Good question - gave me a nice chance to vent! |

If we did nothing, never went out, bought clothes, presents, had christmas, never went on holiday and didnt decorate and kept the same furniture for ever, had no insurances, then we could get by. My greatest fear is losing my job, And losing my job is a reality. I work for a charity so money is always tight.
To helen above me - have you claimed pension credits? |

for me it's to have to take out a loan because the banks in this country have such charges you will end up having to pay back almost double what your loan was. |

If i didn't have a husband earning a good salary I would have to work full time and put my daughter in childcare. Even then I would struggle when it came to buying new clothes, uniform, christmas etc |

Very easy indeed, this counrty is expensicve but that only makes it cheaper when I go abroad. We have the NHS so don't have to pay for medical care. |

I earn about £9,500 and live quite comfortably.
I'm lucky because I own my own house so do not have to find any rent.
Over the last ten years or so my earnings probably averaged £15,000 so I used the spare money to pay off my mortgage.
I don't really have any financial worries. I can't see me not being able to earn enough to live well. |
