Your money at the bank is protected by FDIC which will not cause you any loss from your accounts. And with this troubled financial situation banks are walking toward mergers in order to protect themselves and move on toward protection. And merger doesnt effect you as a customer and doesnt effect your accounts and you will be informed of any changes if it happens.

So dont worry dont withdraw because with FDIC and banks working hard its still safe more than putting money at home.

and this situation wont stay long the economy is a cycle it will turn better sooner or later

If you're a normal Joe like the rest of us, you don't have much to worry about in terms of losing your finances if your bank goes under. The federal government (at least in the US) insures all banks accounts up to $100,000. That means if you have $50,000 in savings and your bank goes under, the federal reserve will pay you that money. And given that the stock market has been performing so poorly lately, its at least nice to earn some interest rather than none at all.

If you're particularly lucky and have more than $100,000, it might be worth looking into spreading your money around. If the banks go under and you have over 100k, you lose all the money over that $100,000 mark. However, if you take your money and spread it around many different banks (NOT different accounts at the same bank), up to $100,000 is insured in each of those banks.

Hey,it beats keeping the money in a coffee can buried in the back yard.

No. The government covers you for up to a certain amount - I believe it's £35,000 - and I certainly don't have anywhere close to this amount in my account.

Anyway what's the alternative? Take it home and stuff it in a mattress? What happens if your house burns down? What about if you're burgled and the burglars find it?

Hi Matthew,

No I won't take my pittance out of the bank as it's Federal Insured so I'll leave it in to draw the interest rate. I sure do hope that I can count on the government. Have a good night. :0)
Additional Details: 2nd thought maybe I will take some out & put in security box in the closet.

Putting it under the mattress instead would be like an invitation to intruders. I have enough problems without that. I think I will leave my few halfpennies where they are.

No, I think that will just add to the problems. Anyway, I don't have much in the bank. If everybody would relax and not panic, the situation would become easier. How would you feel if you took all your savings from a reputable bank and moved them elsewhere, only to find that your new place was in the same sort of difficulties??

i don't have more than 100k in my accounts.

I have no money in bank to take it out but I have an advice to you.

I very trustful predictor said that the world will face lots of troubles , until now anything he said was right.

It is going to be worse. He said many people will lose their money and lifes as well.

Try to be less of an egotistical idiot. However hard you try you are not going to be responsible for a run on any bank.
