I have been in my position a year. My primary reponsibilities are payroll, assett Management, I am Facility Administrator, I coordinate our company's certification process. Am I being underpaid?

Since you are uneducated I would venture to say you are not. You did not say how many years of work experience you have, which also impacts your value.

It sounds as if you work for a smaller company since you are doing HR, admin and office management. Generally small companies do pay less than large companies, but the benifits may outweigh the salary. Things to consider, how many hours a week do you work on average, is your medical and dental paid, do you get matching funds for a 401K; how many days/hours vacation, sick and personal time do you get.

Being in HR, you know that a salary is not all of the compensation. I would go back, add in everything the company pays to compensate you and look at it again.

My gut says no, you are not underpaid, but only you can no for sure.

Without a degree, in our company you'd be just about right.

You must of known what the salary was when you took the job.If you thought the salary was low why did you take the job?

if you work in HR, you are in a perfect position to create a survey and call other businesses and ask them what they are paying in various positions and you could include yours. Tell other companies you are doing a survey to make sure your company is offering competitive wages for the area. Once you know what other places are paying, you can judge if your compensation is in the ballpark.

I started in Human Resources in Wisconsin (Midwest) at $28,000 with a college degree. It doesn't seem too far off. Your position seems pretty administrative, which is what I started out doing in HR.

Salary.com

Very easy to use and very detailed. You can personalize it. Some of it is free. Some of it is not. But what you're looking for is free.

Good luck.

Check with Salary.com and you can get a good idea what you are worth. That gives you information to use when you request a raise. The only real way to know is apply for other jobs like what you have and see what you are offered.

Given you skill level the answer is likely a big yes! It seems you have every bit of the skills to own your own business and a profitable one at that. The next step is to save a little money and start one. It needs to fulfil an extreme need and be of a sort that holds almost unlimited profit potential. You need to be in the position to hire and direct sales people and never be one. At that point, pay yourself any amount you think is fair, yet won't tax the business. Email if you care to talk....

it also depends on where you live...in california yes you are underpaid due to high cost of living...if you are living in deep south rural area then I guess thats ok but in my view you should be paid at least $35K a year for what you do.
