Am I the only one in the USA not worried about money?
The money is rolling in. My bank account says I have plenty of cash and my job pays well. Nice new car. Nice home. More food than one can eat. So where is the problem? All my friends have money and good jobs.

This is what happens when people actually put in the effort to actually WORK...................

Soon, our friend Obama will be taking your hard earned money away from you and give it to freeloaders.

Good for you, I'm in a similar position. I'm concerned about the additional immense debt from the wars and economic bailouts. I think this will lead to currency devaluation (inflation.)

Having lots of money isn't all that helpful if it takes a wheelbarrow full of it to buy a loaf of bread. You can control the amount of dollars that you own, but you can't control the value of each dollar.

Dr Death
Problem is, if the global economy does collapse, the money you have will be pretty much worthless.

In that kind of circumstance, people as complacent as yourself will tend to die horribly in the anarchy, while the real survivors thrive.

Um... well not everyone does... some people have lost loads of money. And some people didnt have much to begin with.

Just because you dont struggle, doesnt mean other people dont as well.

I love some of the other answers---but the real answer here is you think you are well-insulated. Unfortunately you don't live in a vacuum. On the turn of a dime, the whole system could quite possibly collapse. If that's the case, I'd say that the money you have rolling in should be used to buy gold--because that commodity will be the only one worth anything.

Instead of the complacent attitude, why don't you work to make a real difference in the world?

That is great. My son went to college & has been a work-a-holic he speaks english & spanish & other languages. He is still working on his MBA. He was transferred even though he works for a top company. He is still getting paid well. He has a company vehicle in my driveway, plus a vehicle he just made the last payment on & he lives in a hotel paid for by the co. he works for & I could go on & on about what they pay for...My husband & I didn't have the opportunities he had but we still have a good life but we know that more importantly we are hearing there are many people who have lost jobs & money....we don't live alone. This is going to touch your life. Poor circulation eventually brings on illness and or death...If a person has a toe or foot or leg suffering from poor circulation they can say that they are health cause their heart is good & liver & kidney & brain but eventually it is going to reach the other areas so be humble.

A friend of mine was in your situation a few months ago. Is your house paid for or do you have a mortgage?

He saw the economy getting bad, so he put his very nice house on the market. After a year, it still wouldn't sell, even after he lowed it to the price that would just pay it off; he didn't stand to make a penny on it. Then he got laid-off from his very high paying job. He had to declare bankruptcy. He is 48 years old, and is now renting a crappy little apartment, and is bagging groceries at the local supermarket for nine dollars an hour.

Good luck.

I'm not sweatin it. But that's today who knows what will happen tomorrow. I'm not wealthy but, managed to save money and have no debt that might not be good enough tomorrow though.

Judy
I'm not worried about money.
But: My home value has dropped 30% and will drop much more.
Inflation may run up to 11% this year.
People will be losing jobs increasing the gvts need to pay them benefits.
My taxes will rise.
Obviously you have no money in stocks. If you do, open your statement on Monday. You'll notice a 40% loss.

That's nice and I'm happy for you. Not all of us are in the same boat as you are though, and do have reason to worry.

LayerWAN
Well good for you, lots of people are still in your position. I for example am also doing OK, at least I think.

But do you know how well your company is doing at the top? How much money they owe in loans? how much work they have for you for the next two years? You may have a good paying job now, but in 2 months your company may say "oop we're out of resources, this guy is making too much and is only putting in his 40 hours a week so off he goes".

Then try finding an equal job before you go broke.

someone like you should not worry about money, but do know what it does if the economy changes. Are you prepared with what to do if the economy goes bust? Do you understand what will happen ( or wont) to your situation?

This is pretty much what got America in this mess, good times were rollin' in and no one concerned themselves with finance and the future.

DO youself a favor and learn about them.

Dept as money is a good youtube video to help you out.

No, I don't worry about money for I am a man of science and all i worry about is knowledge for the sake of knowledge.

I heard one description of our country's financial crisis as a financial tsunami, and it is now on our beaches but get ready it will roll inland and everyone will feel its impact.

Because we are currently in a "recession" wait until the depression hits you. And wait until your company has lost its stock and it closes... and you loose your jobs. You're a dummy.... you must be young without a college education to save for, or retirement, or kids, or 401k, or health insurance,..... taxes are going to soar, and that pretty little paycheck will slowly wither away. Energy costs are going through the roof, as well. Figure it out, buddy before something bad does happen to you.... is your home paid off free and clear, hmm?? Watch ya back!

Well you know how to do it. Good for you.

Ever hear of the phrase, "Ignorance is bliss." The author had you in mind when he coined it. No job is completely insulated from the impacts of a failing global economy. And when you have a Presidential candidate leading the polls who is absolutely clueless as to how his hair-brained economic ideas will only worsen the economy you have a perfect recipe to put even your assumed insulated position into jeopardy. Good luck.

Messiah's Mistress
Yea, I questioned that myself. My husband works for the railroad and they don't sell anything, they move things. Every job is an overtime job. Too much work! They keep hiring, but the standards are high. IE, No drugs, long hours, shift work, etc.Everybody I know also is doing very well. We are not in the want for anything, and we are not rich. This is an election year and a repeat of Bush versus Clinton. The sky is falling, doom and gloom democrats, want the White House back and people are too stupid to believe the liberal media.
