Scottish gas have just increased my monthly payment to £97 a month. I have an old central heating system and my hob is gas. I work full time so there is no one at home during the day. Also the weather over the last 2 months has hardly been Siberia. Is this a normal monthly payment. Any ideas thanks |

I would get your heating system checked out, I was paying £80 on British Gas and they are one of the highest suppliers.

prices r dam expenive these days. When your bill comes check that their predicted reading is the same as the actual reading on your meter,they can be miles out.
I used to get gas bill for about £80 AND I DIDNT EVEN HAVE GAS. |

Good grief! How big is your house? I live in a 1 bed flat with gas central heating. It's a small flat, but old and poorly insulated and I pay £17.50 pcm. My actual bill is higher in winter but usually balances out over the summer or even goes into credit. I used to only pay £12.50 but have chosen to up it recently in light of the increased charges. It does sound high to me, but if you live in a 4 bed house it's probably not outrageous. Wear more jumpers perhaps. |

Cripes! And I thought I was getting ripped off! I pay £56 a month which I think is too much. We're with NPower. I've got a baxi boiler and gas hob. My last statement said we were £104 in credit. Mind you the last few meter readings were an estimate so we probably owe them a whole lot more! |

Unfortunately, that seems normal for the time of year. I know when we had gas in our old house, in the winter we paid about £568 for two-three months. Gas is horribly expensive. There has to be another alternative. |

We had solar panels installed last summer and our bill has fallen to an average 42 p.m. for a large 4 bedroomed house. Gas central heating.
But you have to pay to have system installed. |
