i live in corvallis oregon. my dad is a neurosurgeon that makes 400k dollars a year. my mom doesnt work. i live in a 700k dollar house. this year my not so intelligent dad is abandoning all common sense and doing the iditarod in alaska. he is taking a lot of time off work for this stupid thing and he has lost nearly 300k this year by the iditarod. am i rich or poor? some people say im spoiled because i have a xbox 360, a ipod touch, a sidekick 3, and a wii. i am 11 years old

Most people would consider your FAMILY to be rich. I tend to agree with the first answer to the extent that YOU can be poor/rich and your DAD not be the same. In REALITY. INCOME is not what makes someone rich. Spending LESS than your income over time makes someone rich (financially anyway). If you own a $700,000 home and OWE $1,000,000, your NET WORTH is still negative. |

Do you consider rich in money? than i would say yes your family is! not you! but its not that important! do you have true friends and are christian? thats the best kinda rich! hope this helps

Take a look around you, a good look. Are there any people who are homeless, who are unemployed, who are on welfare?
Take a good look at the guy delivering your pizza, cutting your hair, trimming your lawn. Ask yourself what those people are making a year.
You will probably never have to worry about making the rent or paying for your next meal finding tuition paying your dental or medical bills or going to Eurpoe on vacation. Think about it.
You begrudge your father for pursuing a life goal instead of just piling money higher and higher. Good for him. I hope he has a great time. |

your probably still wealthy, I'm sure your father put alot of money in like stocks and accounts, so I definitely wouldn't worry about it. Your not spoiled, almost all of my friends/peers have those electronics, I mean i'm 15 but it's a four year difference thats all. Also, I mean your obviously cautious and you don't appear cocky. My friends kept calling me rich and whatnot, eventually I became really cocky and greedy, I suppose I thought I should live up to the image. Eventually I realized that it was horrible the way I was acting, so I think as long as you don't change or become greedy and what not you'll be fine. |

well as someone has already said ur not rich ur parents/dad is. but idk b/c im 14 & i have a lot more electronics like a nintendo gamecube,xbox,wii,30gb video ipod,laptop,cell phone & a bunch of other stuff.& i live in pretty nice house compared to other houses where i live.but i am definitely not rich. & i dont get everything i want.right now im trying to save up the money to buy a new cell phone.which is not as easy as it sounds the phone is like $220 & i only have $6.lol. pitifull i kno but that proves im not rich. idk maybe i am spoiled but im not like those rich barbie's u see in movies.i have nice clothes but i havent been to a mall in several weeks.& i cant spend $1000 on a dress or get those nice chanel sunglasses or that $200 dooney&bourke purse.i'll stick to my jcpenney,aeropostale,&american eagle[kinda expensive store but i havent been there or to any other store in weeks]. *thnx* |
