Yes, a lot of businesses look at your personal history to see how your financial health is. This is due to you having to give accurate advice to customers, basically they dont want people who go against what they are offering.
Also if you are in financial discomfort yourself, it can raise future problems for you as an employee.
Jason_so... is correct in saying that bankruptcy is a public record, in the UK when someone is made bankrupt the details of the insolvency procedure are reported in local press and detailed onto your file, no need to do a credit check at all!! Plus it costs companies to perform these checks so why pay when it is available free!! |

bankruptcy is public record... so if they want to look, it will be right there for them to see.
disregard what everyone else is saying.. they can find out without pulling a credit report or having you sign something. it is on your PUBLIC RECORD. so ANYONE can go to the public records office and find out if they want to.
(Whose the jackhole that gives everyone a thumbs down???)
trust me... Im right.... |

Most bank jobs will require a credit check, a background check and a criminal record check so there's no point in lying on the application. That will just come back and bite you in the end because they will find out and when they do, they will let you go most likely because you lied on the application rather than just the fact that you are bankrupt. It's best to just tell the truth because, who knows, they may still hire you for the position. |

They can run a credit check and find out....however, they need your permission to do that or they should not be able to obtain the information legally. |

If you can't manage your own finances who do you expect to listen to your recommendations? Nobody. Can you think of one good reason any finance company would take you on? |

They definitely will be able to check your financial status. I'm positive they will. I'm honestly not sure if it will affect whether you get the job or not, but I do know that they can check your personal information. You basically give them the right to check all of your personal information when you apply for a job. I'm sorry that I can't help you with a better answer. Hope everything works out for you! And remember, being bankrupt is not a crime, and companies should not treat it as one! |

Just your name and address is sufficient enough for a loan company to check on you.
So, don't lie. If they didn't ask, don't volunteer it. |

Yep - if you signed a form allowing them to. Most jobs in the accounting/finance fields these days do run a credit check for this. |

they are going to run your ss#,
that will tell them alot,
count on it,
perhaps you want to disarm them
with your side of the situation first |

It will be on your credit report, and they can certainly check that. |

They can run a credit check but they would need your permission. So if they ask you to sign for it then you will know that they are going to find out. However, they shouldn't need to know that info for your job. |

Anyone can run a credit check on you with experian, it's all in the public domain, though they can't use it against you as a reason not to give you a job unless it was related to a criminal offence. |
