chaptv | Are both married spouses responsible for unsecured credit card debt if only 1 is on the account? |
|

In most cases, no, but that can vary by state. In almost all cases, only the person who is on the account and signed the contract is responsible. Therefore, if the debt is not paid, the credit card company can only go after the person on the account, and can only put negative information on that person's credit report. |

No, whoevers name is on the account is the one responsible, but if you have been using it too its only fair you help pay the bill. But definitely not both responsible if only one persons name is on the account, however if both names are on it then both are liable. |

No, I'm in a finance class right now and if your spouse is the only one with the credit card debt then she/he would be the only one responsible. |

i dont think so .. my husband had a little credit debt and it didnt effect mine at all bc I wasnt on the account. Call the back but my answer is no. |

In Indiana, the person with the name on the card is responsible and no one else.
So If your name is not on the card, fight it. |

In Australia it is. If you both use it. |

it would depend on what state youre living in. |

No, but the finance company can go after his assets even if they are jointly owned by you. For example your car or house, if they are in joint names. |

under Philippines laws, no except when the other spouse had signed as surety for the said credit.
Check the law applicable to you or at least check the terms and conditions of the credit document you signed.
Hope this helps. |
