Are the rich really going to get richer, or will it have a 'knock on effect'?
If i can't afford something then i do without. I can't afford to drive a car anymore, too expensive. I just buy the basics at the food store. Don't smoke anymore, very really drink. Don't go football anymore. If i can't afford to spend much money i MUST have some sort of effect on the economy. More business will close. Your thoughts.

I do understand what your saying, but the rich pay for these football tickets and I see them becoming richer.

The worlds mad.

You are right, everything is about big business nowadays the little guy, the man in the street gets washed away with the tide.

Keep ya chin up :-)

Certainly with the property market the way it is, it really does looks like it.... Not to mention global issues!

It just remains for the rest of us to keep coming up with ingenious and hopefully inoccuous ways to make wealthy fools and their money part.

The spending of one ultra rich family far outweighs the annual spending of hundreds of average families. So it takes a lot for the economy to be affected.

However if too many average families begin to struggle then then economy will be affected--luxury items are the first to suffer: airlines and hotels, car dealers, clothing retailers, etc. But many businesses like Wal Mart, beverage companies, fast food restaurants, ect are not easily negatively affected when families struggle. People still have to eat, drive, drink, etc.

Money is more liquid now than at any time ever, when I was a kid, you needed permission to take more than £700 out of the country, thats only 30 years ago. Today, you can move money, domicile and tax liabilities around like never before and tax officials usually work for the super rich as consiltants, accountants etc. For the foreseeable future, I doubt this is going to change, so if you can't beat them, join them. It don't seem like you are stuck in sub sahara or one of the other hell holes of this earth.
Poverty is relevant, in the west, we have more opportunity than ever before. France has just voted for a right wing capitalist leader, socialism, for whatever reason, has not worked in France and we dont allow it a chance in Cuba, but hey Venezuela looks like they're gonna kick some ***, China is goanna make some changes too, anyone else like the idea of hanging corrupt officials? OK, there Tibet and the human rights stuff, fair enough, it's not that simple, but common, how many of you secretly wouldn't like.....
sorry, wondered a bit.
Nah, business will evolve, you'll probaly take up smoking again, but you'll buy rolling tobacco, probably imported duty frees and rizzla, so BAT will survive, question is will you?
I adapt, I improvise, I overcome. (Clint Eastwood in some movie)

Yes the rich get richer and the poor get shafted. Its is more expensive to be poor (gas meters spring to mind). The middle classes actually get more money from the state than the poor because they are better able to take advantage of things like free education. The very rich pay much less tax than the middle classes. Tax evasion does far more damage than benefit claimants.

The money sloshes around the City, inflation goes up and necessities such as food and shelter (house prices and rent) rocket in price. It doesn't affect the well off but it is always the most vulnerable that suffer.

Don't worry about the rich. Jealousy will get you absolutely nowhere. Try to figure out why you can't afford to live decently. I'd bet anything it's your own fault. The world is going to go on with or without you. It's up to you to make your own way. It's not the fault of big business or anyone else you can't afford a car. Get off your but and quit your moaning. Not necessarily in that order either.

John B
What is wrong with the rich getting richer? They're typically better educated, work harder and are therefore rewarded accordingly.

If you want something go and earn the money to buy it, if you can't you shouldn't expect the state or anyone else to do it for you. Should you?

Matthew M
The rich are getting richer. More and more people are becoming like you and me, not being able to afford things. But there are always younsters coming along who live with their parents, paying £20 lodge a month and having over £700 per month disposible income.

So, no, businesses won't close.

Franco
As you see John B. believes in the law of the jungle and like other idiots that it is hard work that makes people rich.

I have not seen many rich coal miners have you? And I am sure Soros did not work 25 hours a day. But there will always be john B's.
