I work in a hospital and I'm NOT a nurse....but I need to answer this (my niece is going through nursing school) -- you have to remember, the money IS good but the thing is, there ARE other ways to make money. Being a nurse is a very very hard job and you HAVE to CARE in order to deal with what you deal with in nursing. I can assure you, if you go into nursing but you are ONLY in it for the money, you will fail..... |

If I chose the profession, of course I would save people's lives. To say nurses get paid minimum wage however is a very bad assumption. Nurses may not get paid what they're worth. We can debate that issue until we turn blue. But they certainly are paid well above minimum wage. |

The money is terrible for the responsibilities of the job, especially here in England.
Nurses are vastly underpaid, so it's not the money that attracts people to this profession, but the difference that can be made to peoples life's. |

I, not a nurse, would save someone's life for free.
Nurses on the other hand do more than that. They get to deal with people at their worse, work long hours, work in dangerous conditions (hospitals are not safe -especially ERs), and have physically demanding jobs. The money should be good! |

sorry but il be frank. nursing is not about saving lives is to assist doctors on doing that. However you should go to nursing if you think its the career for you. You go for the money youll be really disapointed.
Rotarry hours, doctors theat you like crap, no recognition from your peers, and franly it does not get easy when you see someone in your care pass away. |

Nurses usually make far more than minimum wage.
Minimum wage is usually for the interns and assistants who clean the bedpans and change the sheets; nurses give more advanced care. Nurses are also in short supply and therefore high demand right now, and their salaries reflect that.
Besides, most people get into medicine as much for the sake of helping people as for the money. |

Honestly, I would not be a nurse if I got paid minimum wage. I might not become a nurse just for the money, but I would want more than just minimum wage. |
