First you've got to find out who they are.
Second you've got to join the queue. |

By all means write to them but don't expect a response. Why would they give you anything whatever you altruistic ideals? They will probably get thousands of letters from people like you. |

they'll probably be getting so many similar requests that they'll just disregard them. that's what i'd probably do... :( |

Not only is it rude to write what amounts to a begging letter, winners are inundated with requests like yours and will probably and sensibly not respond. It's sad your Mum is ill and struggling but there are many worse off, and many more who also think they are 'deserving'. |

Sure, write away. But no fool will give you money just like that.
(and yes, it is shamefully rude.) |

you might as well, but they get thousands of these requests |

It would amount to begging, and they will receive hundreds of begging letters.
How can you say you're not a scrounger when you're even thinking about asking, it is really rude.
Just be happy for other people's own good luck, unless you know them personally, they could have been ready for the scrapheap/ dole queue or house repossesion before they won, so they could really deserve this win |

Any winner of a large sum of money whose name becomes known is deluged with a huge amount of begging letters - the chance of a lottery winner giving a stranger 80 grand to pay off their mums mortgage is about the same as the as the chance of you winning the lottery yourself! Why lottery winners? Why not Paul MacCartney whose fortune makes lottery winners look like paupers, or Richard Branson or anyone on the list of the countries top 100 richest people. Would you give a stranger 80 grand? I sure wouldnt. |

I think that this would be very rude to do. Just because the won lotteries doesn't mean that they will be still wealthy in a few years. You also do not know how they maybe helping their friends and family. What you may want to do since your mum can't pay for her own house, you may want to have her move in with you. |

HAHAHA you are funny. I tell you what I certainly wouldn't give money to someone like you and I am sure if you had won the lottery you would not just give money to anyone! |

You can certainly write to them - if I ever got a begging letter like that I would reply with two words beginning F & O. |

Yes write to them by all means, it's not illegal, but you and several thousand other similar letters won't get opened and will all end up in the rubbish hopefully being re-cycled. |

if you won the lottery and someone wrote to you with the same letter would you lend them the money???
you wont get anything and tbh id be to ashamed to ask. if you want lottery ,money spend £1 a week and enter it yourself, you get as much chance to win as they did.
Best of luck to them, in todays world its everyman for themselves |
