When I was 14. I started working on a sheep and goat ranch for $4.25 a day plus room and board. I worked all through the summer months and every week end while I was going to school. I helped bye my own clothes with the money that I made to help my parents out. I think that made a better man of me. |

There's something weird about my earnings and it might take me a while to get this told:
When I was born, my uncle and aunt gave my mom a $500 savings bond. Every year until I got
10 years old, they gave me $100 savings bonds,
along with another gift. When I turned ten, I received another $500 savings bond! Ages eleven through nineteen I received $100 savings bonds, along with another gift. When I turned twenty, I received another $500 savings bond! Ages twenty-one thru twenty-four, I received $100 savings bonds with a gift; at age twenty-five, I received bonds in the amount of $2,500!! Age twenty-six was a $100 savings bond, as well as the others. My kin were very gracious in giving, but that was before they had grandchildren of their own to care for, and they only had one son. They did my sister and several of my cousins the same way ~ they owned a trucking company and a logging company out of FL in the 1960s that was very fluent! (RIP: Papa King & Aunt Nellie K. <3) |
