Bad credit - it makes you laugh!?
Fed up of reading moans from people trying to escape bad credit. Errrr... like, get a life. Read something from a guy who went bankcrupt and wanted advice on buying a home abroad in his wifes name, presumably so his creditors wouldn't find out!! It makes you laugh, doesn't it? Is it only suckers like me that pay for everything I have? I do have sympathy with people trying to get back on the right track, but honestly a holiday home abroad!!! It's a bit about being a grown up isn't it? (Am awaiting the onslaught!).

Hi there,

I agree with you if peple have got into the bad credit by themselves and keep making things worse by getting more and more things on credit etc.

I am trying to escape the bad credit thing but through no fault of my own. My Mum and I were 'groomed' and this guy went on to sexually abusing me for a period of three years...threatened my Mums safety if I ever told anybody...as it has always been myself and my Mum throughout my whole life I tried protecting her. I ended up taking this person to court and he got away with it more or less because I did not tell anybody straight away there was not sufficient evidence.

I have recently been upgraded to a current account again which is a big thing for me because I have been stuck on a basic account for about 4 years now. The judge said to me that I took things further and that I should move on with my life because if it was down to him he would send the person to jail but as it was up to a jury and it was a hung jury. The thing is, because of the 'grooming' and money I owe to only one company now my life has been on hold.

Bad credit does not make me laugh...only the people who make it worse for themselves.

Don't tar all people with bad credit with the same brush......there are so many reasons as to why people get in bad credit and some of us don't need to be judged!!

My partner and I have recently moved in together and everything we have has not been brought on credit so no you are not the only 'sucker'!

i totally agree with you..i am a mortgage broker and i see all kinds of credit everyday and we tell them how to help themselves..they rarley ever do it..they want it done for them without ever having to fix the past..which makes everything more expensive for everyone....now there are times in peoples life such as divorce or job loss or something along that line that casues hardships to them that effect theri credit..these people i love to help becasue they are the most open to do what it takes to fix it..but the people that come to me for a house loan and they have never paid one thing on time in their life...and they want a house....LOL

Years ago I went a bit silly with credit cards and lived to regret it. It was a good lesson to learn, cheese on top of the beans on toast was a treat.
I am now in the clear and don't have a credit card, only a prepaid one. This way I set my own credit limit and if I can't afford it one month to put money on it, it can wait.
I also have a basic bank account with a debit card. It does everything I want and is one of the best bargain accounts on the high street. Who needs to impress a shop assistant with a gold card?!
Today, I work as a debt counsellor and the horror stories of people over spending on credit would keep you awake at night. One woman owes £100k and has nothing to show for it. Amazing.

I have to side with you on this one. It amazes me just how many people on this forum have wrecked their credit recklessly, and then they appear here looking for some sort of miracle to fix that FICO of 400, in six months or LESS yet.

While there ARE some who simply got caught in a mess through no fault of their own, I'd venture that sector represents less than 5% of those in credit trouble. Not long ago, I encountered one individual (in my business life) who thought she could sue the lender for approving her for a mortgage she discovered she could not afford. The naivete of some folks sometimes drives me close to hysterical laughter.

It is not only suckers who pay for everything we have!

Our poor credit friends of the "gimmie" variety do pay. They pay higher interest, have fewer choices, and many don't understand they could have a life without debt. Some of them have spent so far ahead of themselves that they face a long road of struggle.

Good credit (and the responsible choices that go with it) mean you pay less in interest. Which means you have more money left over. More money left over generally means no stress about how to pay bills.

Life is good.

Totally agree with you. I get really cross with people who get into debt by thousands and then blame the banks. Some people who commit suicide and their families blame the banks and credit card people. The person who spent the money is the one in the wrong. They had all the benefit of the things that money bought and then didn't or wouldn't pay it back.

It is us solvent people who end up paying for them, its our money they are spending. They live off other people's backs.

Yep, It does make you mad, but at the end of the day YOU have good morals and standards and that is the way others judge you.

Some people only learn the hard way, by making all the mistakes themselves first. Some never learn - I know a few people that are hard-luck cases. They never have enough money, they're always making do just to keep food on the table, gas in the tank, the car sort of working. And then they blame it on bad luck.

Fussy
You are so right. I like to pay for what I buy on credit and not get embarrassing calls to my house. Everyone needs to be responsible.

I guess your boasting that you live cash only. Good for you. I seriously applaud that. I'm not sure your post is helpful though.
