I work in a Bank and we tell customers,
Thoroughly check your statements each month and retain for 6 months. Then dispose of safely.
This applies to personal accounts.
Business account holders should check with their accountant or tax office. |

I believe you are suppose to keep them for 7 years. I read that in a finance magazine before. I would just hold on to them for a little while longer. |

usually 2 years back you should keep. if you feel safe enough to get rid of them shred them first. if you've filed taxes properly and have balanced your bank book since 2001 then i would definitely say start shredding, theres too many future years your going to have to keep! |

its up to you, but most of them are no use to you after afew months, and make sure you dispose of them properly, but sometimes its important to keep the statements, just for future references. |

if you check your statement every month, you can toss the old one and keep the new one. If you want to apply for a loan creditor need at least three past statements |

It depends what pleasure they give you.
If you like to snuggle up to them, scrunch them in your face, store them in your panties, then don't get rid of them, just roll in them and rub them on your body!
On the other hand, if they are purely functional items, I can't see any purpose in keeping them more than a couple of years! |

You should send them all to me for safe keeping along with your pin numbers and passwords. Alternatively bank on the internet and you can always see your old ones or order new ones. |
