Benefit question?
I am 21 years old. My weekly income is 243 pounds net (306 pounds gross). I share flat with a friend of mine. He is not related to my in any way. We just live in same flat. My part for the flat is 35 pounds a week. I am not married, I got no children. I don't receive any benefits. Am I entitled to receive any?

no, I don't think you are. To be fair, you are earning a fair wage for a 21 year old, your flat is extremely cheap and you have no dependents - why on earth do you think you might be entitled to other tax payers' money?!

Best of British
£243 goes along way a week single.. So stay out of those Pubs & Nightclubs

nosdda
Of course your not. Your income is double what pensioners get. You only qualify for benefits if you are in need. You don't seem to be anywhere near that catergory.

What for?

Only 15% of your income goes to housing, that is amazing. Most people see at least 30-50% of their income going to housing. You're very fortunate to have the luxury of a good job and very affordable housing. To think you're entitled to the benefits for people who have so little, is criminal.

not likely, i wish i had as much disposable income as you seem to have, you dont know how lucky you are

firebobby
Do you need any more tenants for £35 per week, that won`t pay my heating bills.

DJJD
There is not enough info here to do a calculation. What is your rent and council tax liability? What is the £35.00 per week for. Rent? Council tax? How much does the other guy pay? Is he a sub tenant or a lodger?
It is very unlikely that you would get any benefits, working it out on the info you gave here, as your income is too high.
You have to consider that your friends income is part of the household income too.
