I just paid that much on the credit card...But if I had it to just spend, I would buy crap for my house and I'm 23. But buy what you like, I would go and look around, look at everything that you would like, then go home and think it over, go back the next day if they still look appealing, go for it. That way you wont regret what you buy, or at least shouldn't |

Invest It Into Federal And State Bonds. By This Time Next Year They Will Double. If You Leave It There Yearly - They Double Each Year. |

If you dont know just save it. Get the interest added to it all by putting it in a credit union savings account or a money market... something high interest. Then when you can figure out what you really want buy it. Your personal tastes should be what influences what you spend your money on not what any of us tells you to do... I like the suggestion of instrument and music lessons though. Might be something you can continue for a while and make into a fun hobby later on. Whatever you do have fun doing it. |

I would save at least half of it, maybe even all of it. Someone once proved that as kids from age six to age twenty one, when we become adults, (21 was the legal age at the time of the study), that if we saved all the money given to from the tooth fairy, birthdays, Christmas, and special occasions and put it is the best savings account available, that at age sixty, we would have enough money to retire on without any other income. But, as kids we don't think about long term and you are already twenty one, so start saving now and if you save $2.00 a day for the next forty years you will have one million in cash. It does work and is real. This study was based on a typical middle class family in 1965, which earned a family income of $26,000.00 a year.
The other side of the coin, since you are pretty and well educated you don't need to save much now, just go out and have a good time and that great looking rich guy will be just around the corner. waiting to take care of you the rest of your life. Life is a dream and some dreams come true, but the ones you remember and work are the ones that really come true. Happy Birthday |

Invest in a mutual fund. |

Put it in the bank until there is something that you really want. If you are fishing for things to spend it on now just because you have it, then you are better off saving it until there is something you really want. |

Save/invest the money and spend on something that you might need later in the future; something that might be more necessary/essential in life.
If you are trying to get the most out of it; buy stuff on eBay with the money since you can get it for a lot cheaper and you can divide the amount that you want to spend in more things. |

I know it's hard to do it now, but INVEST it in a mutual fund or something that will earn you interest. It's as easy as going down to your local bank and opening an Individual Retirement Account. |

It sounds to me like this money is burning a hole in your pocket. Why do you have to spend it? Do you know how to save? Or you could sponsor a child in the Philippines for about 18 months with that kind of money. Assuming you are set for retirement. Why is a 21 year old getting 400 dollars for her birthday and not some good financial habits anyway? I hope your future husband knows how to make because it sure seems you won't have a hard time spending it, unless of course you can't decide what to spend it on. Don't take this personally but I am tired of people like your parents who think it is in their kids best interest to give them everything they want instead of what they need, like good habits. |

Wish i could help but it's probably too late. You're 21 and can't decide between buying room stuff or makeup???
Don't worry about saving it...just spend it on anything and find the "Right Guy" with a few extra zero's at the end of his bank account. |
