Widdecombe and Pump | Brink of recession - what does that mean to me and you? |
Being on the brink of recession, what will this mean to the average man in the street?
From the unemployed, to the working class, the wealthy and business, how will it affect us all? |
|

All to do with perception,my man-the people who talk us into recession are the ones who have the most to gain-think about it!!
In the short term you will get less for your hard earned cash-economic cycles are predictable though-and everything should go back to normality around 18 months from now-trust!! |

It means right now, we're arranging deck-chairs on the Titanic.
Prepare for unemployment, interest rate rises, home repossessions and a generally crap time for everyone. Except MPs who are fire-proof. |

it means we are effed. the working class will have to work harder and the spongers might need to even get off their ar$es and look for a job as their giros won't go far enough |

It means that everything is at some risk ... the value of the pound in your pocket ... instability of prices .... the ability to trade freely ...... commerce coming to a grinding halt. A general complete lack of that 'feel good' factor. |

Everyone will feel the pinch. Higher oil bills higher food bills. |

For me personally, we rent our house so it means the owners will be unlikely to sell it at the moment, we have a family of 6 so take some feeding and food prices are slowly going up, my husband is a driving instructor, lessons will probably become a luxury and with petrol still rising lessons prices will have to rise also. We should jump ship while we can and go onto benefits as my cleaning job will soon stop as pub not doing so well, but we still have our pride (and no credit cards or debt) I'm quite sure we personally are probably the lucky ones. You have to cut your cloth accordingly. |

Life is going to get much harder. Unemployment will rise and work wont always be guaranteed. |

I think it's typical of the labour government. Last time they were in we had higher taxes, rising inflation, and everyone striking for higher wages due to the rising cost of living. Well they have been in for 3 terms and it's happening all over again! It will mean a lack of confidence in the economy and people being nervous in investing in industry etc which become a vicious circle. This leads to more inflation, fewer jobs and job insecurity.
Striking oil in the north sea was a lifeline last time but I don't know what will save us this time. |
