MOM KNOWS EVERYTHING

If you claim her as a dependent you have to be able to prove you provided at least 50 percent of her support. Can you do that? |

on your taxes? I believe so, but she can't claim herself as an independent on her tax forms. |

Yes but she will need to either live with you for 6mo out of the year or you must be able to prove that you provide for her well being. Also she will not be able to file her taxes the same way - you will have to talk to a CPA about how she will need to file. |

i think you can legally, if you contribute to over 50% of her income. |

If you can prove that she uses your income for living expenses, you can. |

You should contact a lawyer but i would say yes. |

Yep!
If you provide most of her income and she does not pay you rent for living with you, yes.
She, on the otherhand, cannot claim herself as a dependant on her own tax return. |

Wisdom Troll

Yes, so long as she doesn't take her personal exemption. If you supported her, you can claim her. |

if she lives with you in your home, yes. |

I think she has to be on permanent disability and you have to provide 50% of her income. You have to prove both situations are the case... |

yes you can claim her if she lives with you or you can prove that you provide for her. Good luck.....my son-in-law claimed me one year. |

yes you can as I went through that and took my dad as dependent as I was taking care of him. |

If your mom has an income of any kind and it's taxed, then, no, you can't. Otherwise if she truly is your dependant, I'd suggest checking the local tax laws.
Children over 18 can NOT be claimed unless they continue to attend school, so my GUESS is that you can't claim her. |

Yes. You can claim her IF she does NOT claim herself when/if she files her income tax (and if nobody else does, either). |

It doesn't sound like you'll be able to claim her, but check with a qualified tax preparer to be sure. |

Pinkie

well you need to talk to your brother and get him straight!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!... |

Terry Z
You can claim her as a dependent if you support her atleast 50% and you have records to back that up. |

Just moi

No you can't claim her... but your brother can. |

You can claim her if you have been supporting her every month. Such as paying her rent, bills ect... |

65,You say! Absolutely.Because moms age is a factor..... She Resides with you therefore she becomes your Dependent...That's it... |

No, you can't. Most insurance companies only cover "dependents" which mean children and spouses. Not parents. |
