Can I find out if my ex-husband has filed for bankruptcy via a online site?

Additional Details
Just so happens that my ex-husband won't sell the house we own together and know let it go into foreclosure. So it is my business and don't tell me it at so.

Pretty much every district Bankruptcy court has an online site with either a listing or a phone number you can call and check cases at. Call the local clerk of court for information about what court your county is located in.

FYI: Bankruptcy is a PUBLIC RECORD. ANYONE can check bankruptcy cases.

not sure but you can go the court house....all that is public records...maybe if you have all his info you could online...but in SC where I live all that stuff is public record @ the County Court House.

depending on where you live it may be public record at the county court house. While i believe it s his business if you really want to know, i'm sure you remember his ssn. go free credit report or a site like that and look it up.

I understand your curiousity to find out because you may have children who rely on his payments towards them but really this is not your business. the CSA , (i think,) will force him to pay money for your children no matter what i. But im not sure on this. Relax .. be thankful your not in the same situation he is in and be glad you got rid of the guy just in time before he dragged you down with him :) but heres the website anyway ... its public knowledge or something .. the london gazette website should tell you...

go online to the website for your city government.(Court house) Then there should be a link to court records, another link to public information. Once in you can type the name of your ex and it will bring up any court dockets available. Keep in mind that depending on where you live there could be a fee to get the information. In my city, everything is free. I look up people and see their records including bankruptcy all the time. I do it mostly to check out my daughter's boyfriends because she is only 17 and I like to be sure the boys she dates is not involved in criminal activity or at least in court because of it. Not all cities offer it as a free public service.

Sure you will have to pay a fee to look it up...but anyone can look up anything on someone as long as they have some personal information about the person they are looking up.

On another note, why are you so obessed to find this information out about your ex-husband? What business is it of your's now? Did you have a child or two by him? If not, get on with your own life and leave yesterday behind you. If you are so wrapped up in his every move etc... you need a doctor to help you overcome this.

Good luck!!! Remember, what you do to another person will come back and bite you in the rear later on.

If he is trying to let it go into foreclosure, seek legal counsel. It is going to ruin your credit too.

Try Pacer.com.

It will take a couple of days becaues you will have to set up a account and be e-mailed the information to get into the site.

Once in, you will only be charged if you print out anything.

There is a lot of public information online you just have to go looking for it. Unless you need the information (i.e. court records for a custody battle, or you two are still financially linked) then it really isn't any of your business and his potental bankruptcy won't effect you. I'd first run your own credit report to assure that his name is not anywhere on any open account. It took me years to clean mine. (my exes late payments on joint property were killing me) Once that is done, there is nothing that he does that will affect you. Do NOT go run a credit report with his SSN. That is illegal! You are not allowed to do that unless you have written consent from the person themselves. Trust me, I had considered the same thing and am glad I researched that before making that mistake. Recently, my ex has called me to complain about credit problems and that my name is still showing up on a couple accounts on his credit report. (even though his is not showing on mine). But its not my job to clean up his credit and I'm sure his problems are with his horrible payment history, not a couple of 0 balance accounts that are mistakenly showing up in error (they were closed over 3 years ago). This credit mess can go on for years, even after the divorce (mine was final 2004). Just go ensure your credit report is fine and don't worry what he does.

I also worked in Payroll and was in charge of Garnishments (i.e. child support and bankruptcies). Child support always takes precident and even if he filed for bankruptcy, they can't touch the child support, it has to come first and he will always have to pay it.

Get over it, its none of your business, and btw you can't America have privacy laws that stay in effect. That is a law issue that should be between him and his bank and attorney.

meme c koo
get your nose out of his business. he is not your business anymore.

mikiew80
No and what would it matter anyway!

If he is your ex husband you have already got half of his worldly posessions - best leave it at that!
