L*D | Can a Cheque be cancelled once it's cleared? |
I've sold something on ebay, and they paid by cheque, it cleared friday, but the buyer has no feedback and has been a member since 2003. Also the address ebay has for them, differs slightly than the once they've asked me to send it to.
I'm just checking they're not trying to pull a fast one. |

Once a cheque has been paid in and cleared you cannot cancel it. The money is in your account, I don't see what the problem is, send the goods to the address they have provided, they probably havent updated their account if it differs. |

"Cleared" and "funds collected" are not the same.
If this is a check from the US to the US, it is pretty quick so no problem. If from outside US to US, it could be weeks and then the bank will pull the money back from you.
Watch out for the scam when you get a check for too much and they ask you to send the goods and extra cash. After a few weeks, you're out the "extra" money and your stuff. |

No once the moneys cleared you are totally fine, it could be like me, they opened the account back in 2003 but never used it, maybe were going to buy or sell something but just never got round to it, dont worry you have the money so they definatley cant cancel the cheque. |

A cheque cannot be cancelled one it has cleared. and I don't see what your worry is. You've got the money. Just send the item by recorded delivery (signed for) and get a receipt from the Post office. This way youve got proof of delivery plus a signature at the other end.
If I were you I'd give them halve a chance, everyone has to start on Ebay somewhere. I'd be more worried if the cheque had bounced and you'd sent the item.

The cheque has not cleared yet. Check the Ts & Cs of your bank account and you will see that the cheque will not clear until at least 6 days have elapsed (internal cheques) or up to six weeks (external cheques) unless you pay for "special clearance".
It may not be a con, you'll just have to wait and see. |

U must contact ebey customer care ,if they are not resond you then go to conjumer court....before going to conjumer court ,u must gave them warning .......

Your check has been processed, so it's a done deal. That there is no feedback means nothing. A slight address difference doesn't prove anything either. IF the person fails to deliver the goods or they're not as described, THEN you have a complaint that can be dealt with. Ebay has a grievance mechanism in place and as anyone who watches court TV can swear, you can sue them in small claims as well. So far, nothing has been done that's wrong. |
