best thing to do is contact citizens advise NOW and also go and see your bank manager to find out why they have frozen your account.
ALSO go to the DHSS and find out what's going on too and check that you are not under investigation by the benefits fraud team.
And also it's worth saying that not all people that are on benefits are scroungers! as you have learned yourself. |

Of course the bank can do this....they have....what you dont believe it? the bank couldnt give a monkies where this money has come from or how many kids you have....or indeed how this will leave you financially, you obviously owe them this money, probably in a unauthorised overdraft situation......what has already been paid in is now 'lost'.....the only thing you can do is contact all the payers (income support and tax credit) and get them all paid somewhere else immediately, you must ring today to get next weeks money redirected or you'll 'lose' that aswell.....either into another account that you have, or the account of a partner/reliable friend/mum etc...... |

Well i feel sorry for you try asking the bank why this has happened then maybe ring the tax office as they may be able to recall it back for you and send a giro only other oprion is to sit in the social all day good luck.... |

If you owe the bank money then they will take it from your account no matter what the money is for. Change accounts - have it going into someone elses account until the problem is sorted out. |

well while u sort this out get your benefit paid into another account, the post office do a account especially for ppl to have benefits put in or ask for a giro on your next one. if you have gone overdrawn the bank can freeze it and take money in it as part payment (or all depends what u owe).
also to everyone having a go at her child benefit is paid to ALL people with kids..even those who are millionaires so shes only claming what u will claim when u have kids. |

Well odds would say you were negative and the accounts were closed due to either a long lasting negative balance or reapeat overdrafts. Other than that it may be they are just be they are holding the check, which in that case it can only be held a limited amount of time and maybe contact your bank about what is going on. Ive never heard of an entire account being frozen unless they suspect fraud or terrorist activity. |

The best thing you should do is call the bank. There might have been a error. Can't your partner help you out? They're not going to freeze your account forever are they? and if you explain what has happened then I'm sure the bank can activate your account again. |
