Yea a bank sure can, money issues are not what they want in an employee, you'd be considered a bit of a risk.
And potential employers aren't responsible for others debts.
CASE CLOSED! |

PJ is correct.
In fact, if you work with any kind of personal information, credit card numbers or cash, it is often a criteria NOT to hire you if you demonstrate poor personal money management as you'd be more likely to steal from the company (or worse, steal credit information that belongs to the customers).
Hopefully you have an educated person reviewing the report, though. I tend to cut single mothers a little bit of slack due to the financial strains that come from a one parent family. But, if you owe a skunk load on your cell phone or to the cable company (real examples from the screening process), then it tells me you have no clue how to manage your personal finances and I won't hire you. |

They can choose not to hire you for any reason they want. If you have debt or bad credit it can reflect badly on you, making you look irresponsible. |

A company will and won't hire you for any reason they care to. The only thing you can say is if they won't hire you because of race, creed or color. Those three are almost impossible to prove in todays world. |

yes! u cant even manage ur own financial problem! if u apply a job to any company that involve money causes temptation and corruption! money is the root of all evil! |

Only if the company you want to work for is the one you owe money to....lol....NO they can not do that......that would mean that everyone out there with outstanding balances on credit cards etc. etc. could never get re-hired if they ever lost their jobs...it just doesn't make any sense not to hire someone just for owing money. |

They can choose to not hire you for any reason-debt being among the reasons, they wont tell you that's why, they will tell you something different. The reason they wouldn't hire you is because they don't want the hassle of the legal work involved in garnishing your pay check. |

They can not hire you b/c of bad credit. Which is why I have bad credit. I couldn't get a job b/c someone stole my identity but while I was fighting that I couldnt' get a job b/c no one would hire me b/c I had bad credit and so I couldn't pay my bills and it got worse. I think it is so stupid I dont 'see why people think that bad credit means that you can't do your job. |

I hope not...That wouldn't make sense. How are you suppose to pay off your debt without a job? |

Yes they can. In jobs where people are responsible for money....they will look at your credit. |

Usually a company won't hold debt against you if the debt is within reason for your current income. They will hold credit scores against you though. Most financial companies and many others will run credit scores on potential employees. Bad debt / credit can show a lack of responsibility. And someone in a serious finanical situation can be prone to dishonesty - and working for a financial institute requires both resposible and trusting charactoristics. The amount of debt you refer to isn't really crazy, if you are making enough to maintain it, so I wouldn't think it would be an issue. |

They say they are not to decline you employment due to that but i believe they do. And to me it would seem logic to hire you cause at least then they could get they money back!! but i went through the sAME TYPE OF MESS WITH 1ST TENNENSSE BANK!!!
Good Luck

yep if you read their employment statement like at my company it says remain of a financial sound state of affairs. i slept with a lady in hr at our company and she told me its a way for companys to get rid of dope fiends that get wasted and ruin their credit without having to try to fire em for drug addiction without rehabing them first. but she told me she would deny saying it if i ever tried to testify in court. cjhs |

nope .. u work to pay for debts .. most of us did that (eg; bank loans for house, vehicles etc) |

it depends on the company but if you have a bad credit history yes they can |
|

It depends.
You can NOT get hired for a lot of reasons...bad debt is one of them, if they pull a credit check on you.
Why?
Because excessive debt shows a lack of judgment when it comes to credit. BAD debt can cause people to do all sorts of things...like STEAL from their employer, or in the case of job where you need a security clearance, can put you in a position where you can be manipulated for money. That is, if you are in debt up to your eyeballs, you'd be more willing (at least that is what they say) to sell out security secrets etc.
So you had better be prepared to explain this if they ask you. They are well within their rights to pull a background and credit check on a new employee.
Good Luck! |

That's really not that bad. I wouldn't worry about it. I am sure they will still hire you. |
