well i went through this same situation so i will tell you what happened to me! I am actually 19 years old. I have had one credit card since I was 17, and one other card for a couple of months now. I have also always paid my bills on time for my cards. I went to about four different banks that all told me the same thing: I had excellent credit, just not enough. It was like a broken record. "You have always paid your bills on time. Having a credit card gave you credit, and it is good. You just don't have ENOUGH credit to get a loan without a co-signer." I had pretty much given up until I went to a used car dealership and the dealer recommended me to this certain bank. I went and applied, felt I was wasting my time. They called me 30 minutes later and told me I was pre-approved for $5000 dollars. I almost cried.
POINT IS: You are going to hear a couple of banks tell you the same thing they told me. "You have good credit, but not enough". It depends on what bank you go to. You have to find the right one.

It sounds like you have a great head on your shoulders and a good start on life. Many new car companies like Toyota or GM have "First Time Buyer Programs". You will have good credit going in so I don't see why they would not finance you.
We used a "First Time Buyer Program" when I graduated from college. It really helped us get started and we received a great interest rate.

There probably a good chance, but the type of finance company that it would be would probably stick you with a higher interest rate than you would want. Make sure you shop around. Try a credit union or something like that. I don't know about where you live but in Toledo, OH there are credit unions that you can join now just by being a resident of the area. |

It sounds like you probably have pretty good credit. You should be able to get a loan for sure. If you can wait till your credit cards are paid off, but don't close the accounts. Keep them open and use them once in a while. Just pay them off right away. |

Yes you can. A good idea is to get a loan from the financial institute that you use on a dialy basis. (ie. bank or credit union). That is probably where you will get the best interest rates from. Good luck. |

Absolutely! You have credit established, assuming it's good credit there should be no problem. Your interest rate will be based on how good your credit is as well as how much you will be putting down on the car yourself. |

Yes, you absolutely should be in great position to acquire a small car loan in the amount of $6,000 without a co-signer. I would suggest that you pay off your credit cards first, and then, check your credit score and credit with the three credit bureaus--TransUnion, Experion, etc.--for a free credit report from each of them. Also, check with banks, credit unions, and even the dealer for the best interest rates on a car loan. You can also check with bankrate.com for the going rate. Finally, the car loan will be based upon your credit history, credit score, and your ability to repay the loan. If the car you are planning to purchase is new, then, you will get a better interest rate than if the car is "used" because most loan companies think of a "used" vehicle as having inherent problems that may be a risky investment and therefore it is difficult to acquire a loan on a "used" or formerly owned vehicle, regardless of credit history, score, etc. Hope this helps. Yes, you can. Expect the interest rate to be rather high, though. Even if you have clean credit record, you just don't have enough history in your record for the loan company to consider. |
