Ask your bank when you pay it in. Typically they say three clear working days, so pay in today Thursday, they need Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday next week to clear it, you can have the money next Friday. Most computers work in terms of microseconds and nanoseconds, but I think there are special slow ones made for banks. Actually, if the cheque is a big one, it may be worth asking whether they can do express clearance, some will do this for a small fee, same or next day. |

If you bank it today 5 4 07 it will clear by 13 4 07 you have two bank holidays. You forget the day you put cheque into account - then 3 full working days later it will clear. Doesn't matter that it is a different bank that issued it. |

Most banks will tell you 3-5 working days, it can be sooner, but some banks can take up to 10 although this is rare. You can pay to have the funds cleared quicker if you want though, think it costs around £10, but will be cleared within 24 hrs. Why they can't do this with every cheque though is beyond me. |

It depends on the amount of the cheque and how long you have the account with them. If the amount is low (300-500 hundreds) and you have a good credit, the cheque can be cleared right away. Otherwise, 5 business days (a week) is the standard. |

It can take anywhere from one day up to four five working days to clear. The funds may show in your account but you may not be able to draw the fund out.. |

I would say 3 working days, but as mentioned there are bank holidays to be taken into account.
If you have an overdraft limit though you could use some of that until it clears.

If you put it in today it will clear next Friday because of the bank holidays,if your desperate for the money you will have to find some nice person to loan it you for a few days. |
