A pre-paid credit card is basically the same as your debit card. You set up and account with x amount of dollars and you can only spend that much money. There's usually a fee each time you use it too. Let's say it's $2.00 each time. You deposit $100. Then you buy something for $10. Now your balance is $88. Then you buy something for $20. Your balance is now $66.
You're better off using your credit card because if you're swindled again you're not liable for it. Don't use your debit card becuase if someone gets ahold of that they can clean you out. |

I have used a prepaid Mastercard before and to be honest I love it. You have to buy the card for around $10 then put however much money you need on it. There is one draw back though - you have to wait for the card to arrive in the mail and yes they do charge a fee every time you put money on the card. This fee isn't very much - something like $2.99 or something. But to me, it was well worth it to know that I didn't have to use my regular debit card. |

The cards I've seen cost around $15.00 to activate, and charge $5.00/mo in fees. Plus there are fees if you want to withdraw your cash. Many stores offer them (Walmart, Target, CVS Pharmacy, even gas station convenience stores).
A credit card may be a cheaper solution, unless you are concerned about overspending. They are not linked to your bank account, and they are more responsive to fraud claims than banks. |

i dont know if this is what you are asking but
american express offers VISA giftcards. you could put as much money in it that you want and purchase anywhere that acceps visa credit cards.
you could go to americanexpress.com and click on the gift cards tab, you will not have a problem with fraud cause their website is protected.
hope it helps |

Wal-Mart has it so you can prepay for a credit card and if it is lost or stolen, they pay it back to you. I have heard good things from it. I want it because you can shop online, too! |

Prepaid credit cards are a great way for someone starting out to build up credit. Most banks or credit unions require a 100-115% cash deposit to secure the card.
Then, the money is placed in an account that you can't withdraw from until the card becomes unsecured or at some penalties for you.
After the cash is in the bank, SECURING your credit card, the credit card acts as a normal credit card, at a low interest rate (or at least lower than unsecured cards usually).
As time goes on and you get to the point where you can handle an unsecured credit card, you can close/convert your secured card and the $500 or whatever cash amount, becomes available to you.
So, in that time you've learned some credit card responsibility (hopefully you've kept your balances low), boosted your credit score, and you have $500 in the bank that you had set away safely.
If you want to find some secured credit cards to apply for I'd suggest visiting http://www.zeroaprcredcard.com |

You sure sound like someone who, after surviving a snake bite, chooses to go into the forest to hunt snakes!
Anyway, while wishing that you have no more hits, I suggest that you try paypal online account, NOT PAYPAL CREDIT CARD. You would only be able to spend up to the limit of your balance.
Good luck, |

a pre paid credit card is a card that YOU buy and YOU put money on it. Say you are going on a trip and you need $500.00 to take with you. Well instead of carrying around all that cash you can buy a pre paid credit card add the money to that card and spend away. The only thing i dont know is if they are insured. like if you lost it or it got stolen i dont know if they would be able to give you your money back???? |
