The person who the check is issued to must sign it and then below write "pay to the order of" and then your name |

yes, have them sign it and they need to put their social secruity number and drivers license number, then sign your name and your bank account number. |

usually it depends on your bank. some do and some don't. make sure that they sign it and if your bank says that u can, have them put on the back pay to the order of and put your name and then you sign it. but check with your bank first because you don't want all that on their check if you can't |

Only if they sign the check over to you. Do not forge their name. This is a crime. |

As long as it's legally done, you can ask them to sign it to you and then sign your name on the next line down. Then take it to be deposited. |

Yes, if they signed it over to you.
Some banks will not take these "second party" checks. |

Did they endorse it(sign it over on the back)? If so I think it depends on the bank but I believe most will let you. |

Yes. Have them sign the back, and write your account number below their signature. |

yes, they have to endorse the check and then you would sign underneath thier signature. depending on your bank's policy, you may have to wait until it clears before withdrawing the cash. |

absolutely, the banks basically don't care. Its only a problem if it's stolen and the person complains. |

You can, at certain banks. I'm not gonna say where, but I work at a major US bank, and we do not accept these checks (called third party checks). There is too much liability and potential for fraud. |

i think you can if it's under $500 |

Depending on the bank, yes. You need to have the other person sign it over to you first, and then deposit it with your signature also. |
|

Brian L

Yes, but they need to sign it and below that write "For deposit by x person" |
|

Trishy

Yes - so long as they sign the back of it, then trasfer it over to you by writing "Pay to the order of (your name)" under their signature - and then YOU sign it under that. |

Yes
There is no need for anything other than the other party's signature- and of course your own.
A check exceeding a certain amount defined by the bank may be refused, but depositing it as opposed to cashing it may make that mute.
It's unfortunate the bad advice that is given out in this forum.
Just remember advice is free and you get what you pay for. |

No. If they accidentally do, like you put it in an atm machine instead of going into the bank, your bank will kick it out and start charging you bounced check fees if it goes into negative after they take the money off your account.
Why would you want to? If it's the husband or something, and you need it, contact him and let him know it needs to reissued? |
