in a divorce agreement my ex owes for this bill ( co-signer here) and he didn't pay, It's 20,000 dollars and now their takeing out over 500 a month out of my check. I'm a single parent of 2 kids.....he pays very little child support. i need advise on how to get this one debt away from me.

NO. Why would you want to, unless you only have one bill. If this is the case then I guese you can file it on one bill. Bankruptsy is not the way to go. You have to pay back the money you owe, nothing is dismissed like it used to be. |

Do you mean not file on your other credit & file on just that bill? NO.. You can't screw just one of your creditors & keep your Jaguar.

The NUMBER of debts is not an issue. The AMOUNT of debt and your financial resources are the issue. As a rule, people with 'just one debt' are nowhere near bankrupt.
If you are asking if you can file bankruptcy on one debt but keep the rest, the answer is NO. ALL debts MUST be included in a bankruptcy. It is possible to 'reaffirm' certain secured debts in order to keep the asset that secures them. Failing to list all debts is considered fraud and could invalidate the bankruptcy. |

No, and the laws on bankruptcy have changed so much, its very hard to file for it any more. |

Do not consider bankruptcy until it is absolutely necessary. If you do then you will never be able to buy a house and maybe even a car. I do not believe you can only do one bill because all of the debt has to be paid off at once. |

careful bankruptcy doesn't release your debt anymore.
Only corporations and fed reserve have that right. |

Bankrupcy affects you and your life for the next 7 years.....
see if you can work out a payment plan.. trust me
Bankruptcy is not the way to go unless its decised and agreed with by a professional accountant or banker |
