Can i purchase goods in dollars from a uk credit card?
not sure if it is ok or not do they convert it for you or what?

onefishtwofish
Yes - it will be converted into pounds on your bill. Bear in mind the exachange rate they use is often not very good though.

Super Cool Guy
Yes they do but often the exchange rate is poor and/or they charge loads of comission

Great Dane
No problem. They convert the price into pounds on your bill.

All your needs about credit card details here. It's help you hope http://www.freewebs.com/creditcard4all

Yes of course you can, the bank automatically works out the exchange rate for you. It is calculated as of the time of purchase.whatever you do, don't use your credit card to withdraw cash from a cash machine, they charge you a huge fee.

as others have said there is no problem at all. you pay in dollers and are billed in sterling

Yep they convert it for you. Usually you get a good rate of exchange too. I often buy things from Amazon.com because it works out cheaper than using amazon.co.uk because the pound is so strong in the USA even once you've added in the delivery costs.

Credit cards will automatically do the excahange at the time of purchase, so not only will you get the item; you will get it at the exact rate of exchange with no extra fees or profit built into the exchage. When you travel, you should always use your card and avoid changing money at banks or other fee charging locations.

Yes, of course you can. The credit card company will convert it into pounds using their own internal exchange rate. It might be worth giving the credit card co a call to see what their rate is on the day you make the purchase to check you are not being ripped off, esp if its a large amount of money.

numar0137
yes, they convert it for you.

monkeymanelvis
You can - there is no problem with doing it. The bank converts the money automatically.

Yes, but you should check first what is the conversion charge is.

DubbySquared
Thats easy, you can even purchase in Japanesse yen, or in Euros as well. Don't worry about the process of conversion, just worry about the daily rates.

Sit back and all will be done for you

They convert it at a daily rate. Don't expect to get $1.95 to the pound - it will be more like $1.80-$1.85.

But overall its no problem- I do it often.

patricio_dhillon
Yes you can. But if you are using it over the net just remeber anything over £30 attracts duty , so any savings you make will generally be eroded by the amount of duty. Howver, the duty is wiaved if its less than £4. so you can go slightly over £30 but not by much.

Have a great Christmas and a happy New Year

You can do anything you like with a credit card from any country.

best part is they do the conversion for you and the credit card companies give a much better rate than those currency converter stands

thereisonlyonebrightstar
yeah you can they will convert it for you when your statment is due.

I don't see why not. I have bought items in Euros with a U.K. credit card and the purchase appears on my statement in Euros converted into pounds. I have used my credit card in Singapore and New Zealand - no proplem so I am sure it will work with dollars.
