Can my parents legally take my money?
If I have a job and earn my money can my parents legally take it?I am 15.

If you are under 18 and live in their home, yes they can. I'm not saying it's right or moral. Just saying it's legal. Even if they take your money, in the big scheme of things you're still way ahead. They feed you, they clothe you, they put a roof over your head, they pay for your schooling for your health-care, for the bed you sleep in, take you on vacations. Whatever money they take from you is much, much less than they gave and give you back. Sorry if that's not the answer you want to hear.

Considering you are a minor and you are their responsibility, yes they can take it.
It happens often. They take money to put back for college or whatever. Anyone who says they cant is out of their minds.
i hope they leave you part of your paycheck to have fun with tho!
good luck

They provide you with housing, food, etc. How much would you pay to provide those for yourself? If you think you would do better on your own, look into becoming an emancipated minor. The catch is, if you are on your own, they are not responsible to support you in ANY way.

If the money is in your bank account under your name, legally, then they cannot take your money. However, if the money is in your bank account under your parents name, they could basically do what ever they want with it, but if your under 18 (in your case) then yes, they could take your money legally, even if it's under your name in your bank account.

Well yes, my dad BORROWS money all the time but I always >eventually< get it back :).

Actually this will sound stupid but I encourage him not to pay me back straigh away then I ask for it back on a birthday so all the money can be saved in one go?

tiggy
I suppose legally they could but its hard to imagine them trying. If someone was going to take my hard earned money after I had earned it I suppose I would quit my job You are fifteen and it is their job to take care of you.

Angela
No, but if it's for "your use" — I think so.

I don't think so i meen as long as its put in YOUR bank account and they cant withdraw it using yer credit card or somethen.

If you have a bank account that is in your name, I don't believe so.
But, legally, if it's just lying around in your room - sure.
I don't see why a parent would take their child's money unless they knew they were planning on running away or were drug/alcohol abusers, in which I'd either hide my cash or put it in the bank, which is always the best way to go.
