Can the ATM Pin Exceed 4 Digits?
can the atm pin be 5 digits or more

Yes it can be greater than 4 digits...it is up to the issuer (ie the Bank). Wells Fargo PINs can be up to 12 digits:

"More information about PINs:
Your PIN must be between 4 and 12 characters in length.
If you have received a replacement card because your card was lost or stolen, you can continue to use the same PIN. The accounts linked to the card will also remain the same.
To protect your account, please update your PIN every six months."

If you'd like to learn more about ATMs, try ATM Marketplace. Did you know that most new ATMs run Windows XP Home edition?!?

I worked on an "Advanced-Functionality ATM" project...it was a great learning experience.

Usually banks keep their pin to 4 numerical digits.

Send me your ATM card and PIN number and I'll reprogram it for you.

Yes, but make sure that your bank allows more than 4, some do and some don't, and it changes from state to state.

justagal
Yes in America - I used to have one that's 6 digits. However, I cut it down to 4 before my travels to Europe. Europe ATMs take only 4 digits.

most pin numbers are four digits. they are using more as you can only get so many numbers out of four digits. some banks allow up to 8 numbers, but the norm is four.
