I am on disability because I was hit by 2 drunk drivers. My fiance recently lost his job as well. I have bills in collections now. I get food stamps, $100 a month. That's not enough for the month. I don't know anyone who can live off $50 of food for a month and be healthy. My rent takes more than half my disability pay. I signed up with a church for a Christmas program to receive a box of food for Christmas. We have no money for Christmas presents. My gift this year is cooking dinner on Christmas for my family. My parents are on a fixed income and there is no money for gifts all around my family.
Merry Christmas & be thankful for what you do have, not focus on what you don't have. I know it's hard. I am right there with you. Blessings to you and your family. |

Sorry to hear that.
I'm employed and although money is tight as always, I can afford Christmas. I get a bonus twice a year as part of a profit sharing program. Each year one of those bonuses comes during the middle of November so I always set aside some money for Christmas. I never spend much, but I put aside enough to buy a small gift for everyone in my family and enough to pay for gas and meals out etc when going to Christmas parties or visiting relatives.

I'm so sorry to hear that. My husband and I have been struggling, too. I recently got a job but you know, I do not make a lot of money. We both do not have a child, but we have to move to an apartment next month. We have to pay additional 300 dollars. It will be a lot. But, we have no choice. We have been renting this house with my mother in law, but now, it is time for us to move out.
We are not going to do anything on Christmas. We will not buy a gift for each other. We will not have a fancy dinner. I will be working and we will spend time like a normal day.
I know it is pretty sad, but we have no extra money to spend for anything right now. I totally understand your pain. It is just insanely hard to find a job right now. I have high education and speak two languages and have working experience, but it is really hard to find a decent job for a college graduate. I absolutely stopped being picky and grabbed whatever out there. I needed to be really realistic.
So I am ok now. Of course I am not 100% satisfied because I spent so much money and time at college and a job that I have do not require higher education. But, it is ok. I wanted to work so badly and I will be so happy as long as people around me are nice.

I am sorry to hear that you are down on your luck. I have a job , but it feels a little uncertain. I also have bills and I need to go to the doctor and well let just say that everything seems to need attention right now. I hate to see Christmas every year just because it's always the same. I never have the money for the extra expenses and it always makes me feel bad. Because it like I can never do enough throughout the year to make the most out of the holidays. So I may not be in the same boat as you, but I known what it's like. Good Luck and I hope you have a nice Holiday. |

I was in the same situation as you only a few weeks ago.
i had to start staying up a few hours later than i normally do -- filling out these tedious surveys for money online just to cover the cost of the bills. luckily im ok until next year and i can concentrate on getting my kids a nice gift this year.
im sorry to hear about your money troubles David.
just keep in mind you're certainly not the only one going through this due to the recession and everyone losing their jobs. and quite honestly, it could be a lot worse for all of us.

i am so sorry to hear this! fortunately my husband and i are actually doing okay financially right now. we've finished our Christmas shopping and are now shopping for our Christmas dinner. things are tough for a lot of people right now. i hope things get better for you and your family soon. i remember a couple of times when our children were little they had to go without Christmas. i was so amazed at how they dealt so grown up with it. they were just happy to have a decent meal. we went to Salvation Army and got some toys and for the children. try applying at some local churces and the Salvation Army and see if they can help you out with your bills and food. also apply at the welfare office for food stamps i live in Georgia and fortunately we still have some job openings is you are willing to relocate. try the Target and Walmart warehouses, Ga Port Authority is always looking for people who can operate heavy equipment and truck drivers. try the local hospitals where you live. believe it or not health care is a recession proof industry and they are always hiring. you may have to take a job that you really don't want until something else better comes along. good luck to you and your family! i will pray that the Lord blesses you with a special Christmas blessing! |
